When announcing the game earlier in the year we’ve listed a projected release date of ‘fall’ 2013. We immediately got questions on this, whether this

Oh well, at least this means you guys aren’t sacrificing the game to get it released asap. I do like my games to be shiny when released.
July 16, 2013 at 17:30 #8161When you said “The game release may be delayed to early 2014″, I had the feel that it is planned to be delayed – and it will. It did. But I think it’s even better. In this few additional months you can make very much of cool stuff. So do it – we’ll wait patiently. 🙂
July 16, 2013 at 17:33 #8162Meandors fault. Those useless shadow demons give him too much spare time so he can start some good old sabotage. May he rot in the shadow realm forever! Or our beloved Ham Binger just simply ate the whole budget.
2014 Q1 is a bit wide interval 😛
July 16, 2013 at 17:42 #8166I’m glad you are releasing the game when it is polished rather than releasing it early just to make it into the biggest shopping days of the year before Christmas. 🙂 Just a little disappointed the wait will be longer but I’ll survive.
July 16, 2013 at 18:30 #8167Definitely a good decision. It’s very frustrating when a game comes out prematurely. The features, polish, and stability this delay affords will be worth the wait. Thanks for making it the best you can.
July 16, 2013 at 18:34 #8168This game bring back good old memories and I’m definitely going to pick up the Trilogy Pack this weeks Steam’s Summer sale. I have high hopes for this game and know it will be as Wonderful as the rest. Can’t wait to play it ^_^.
July 16, 2013 at 18:37 #8169I admit i hoped for a fall release. It was strange (and good) to wait for a game that didn’t have still a good couple of years of development ahead. However i know it was not an official release date.
However, i will be happy to wait for the good game this seems to be.July 16, 2013 at 19:08 #8170I have been saying to my friends since i heard about the game “its planned for the end of this year but these things usually run longer than expected so plan for it to arrive 2014”
I agree with the rest of the guys here, id rather a later release date for a better game.
Though i do wish this was the quest dev post, really cant wait to see how much you guys have changed that side of the game 😀
Will it include the spirits?
July 16, 2013 at 21:24 #8176I am not surprised. I am NOT disappointed either. In fact, I applaud Triumph for this decision. I wholeheartedly agree that it is better to take a little longer and really work all the kinks out, add some cool new stuff and sand off and polish all the rough edges.
I was part of the Eador: Masters of the Broken World beta and that turned into a rush job due to contractual obligations on Snowbird Games. So the initial release of the game was buggy and they had to rush out several patches to fix things that really should have been polished ready in the release version. They were in a very unenviable situation and fortunately made the best they could of it. However, nobody wants to be in that sort of situation if they can help it and this decision makes sure that Triumph need not find itself in such straits.
I’ll still happily preorder AoW3. 😀
There is also another reason why I don’t mind the 2014 release at all: Another project I’m even more deeply involved in is set to release at the end of August, so there will be no overlap and no competition around the release date and thus both games will prosper even better. Given how much of a niche the TBS market is, more prosperity all around is better for everyone. 🙂
July 16, 2013 at 22:27 #8178What means they are showing new classes? They are explaining already existing or other never mentioned?
July 16, 2013 at 23:29 #8179So, when pre-orders will be available?
(pre-order should have approved release date)July 16, 2013 at 23:51 #8180I expected this though it was nice to hope for Fall. Maybe I’ll just freeze myself to pass the time.
July 17, 2013 at 00:32 #8181July 17, 2013 at 04:25 #8183Sigh. Oh well, back to Skyrim and impatient waiting for the Desolation of Smaug.
July 17, 2013 at 06:22 #8186I have seen Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3. Since then, I am ok with waiting and delaying.

Is that a release date for dominions 4?
July 17, 2013 at 09:33 #8190Until our release in Q1 2014 we will be organizing several events and are currently planning a great pre-order promotion and presence at Gamescom in Germany this August
YESSSSSS!!! *rushes over to http://www.gamescom.de/de/gamescom/fuer_alle/eintrittskartenneu/ and buys a bunch of tickets*
It’s great to live in Düsseldorf! (close to Cologne^^) 😀where we will be showing some of the new classes.
New Classes?! You don’t mean that there’ll be more than the initial 6, right? Oh that’d be too good to be true! *closes eyes and starts dreaming with a stupid but happy expression on his face* 🙂
July 17, 2013 at 11:37 #8191I don’t think so. In the prev. game we had only wizards, now we have at least 5 new classes 😉
July 17, 2013 at 12:54 #8192NuMetal, we will be present at Gamescom, but wont be having a public booth. At the moment we will be limiting ourselves to demos for the press. So if you’re planning to buy tickets just to see us, please hold your horses. 😉
There is a small chance we’ll be giving some people an opportunity to see the game at Gamescom though. But that’s by invite only. And it’s not 100% sure yet.
Also we won’t be announcing new classes, but will be showing gameplay of classes that we haven’t demonstrated yet.
July 17, 2013 at 13:39 #8193This was expected and although I’m still a bit miffed over it, it’s for the best really. A rushed game is a bad game.
July 17, 2013 at 13:39 #8194@jimmy van der Have:
Well, if these demos are more than just the GDC-trailer which we already know, than it’s totally worth it.
(And of course I will also look at other stuff too, AoW would just be the main reason for me to come 😉 )And if you decide to give some people the opportunity to “see the game”, how would you decide who is worthy of seeing it? =)

Yes, it is. August 31 is what Illwinter says on their page. So a Q1 AoW3 release should give me just enough time to play a couple of Dom4 MP games and a lot more SP before diving into into AoW3. It will be a nice change of pace to just play a finished TBS game instead of beta testing it. 🙂
July 17, 2013 at 14:54 #8196I suppose it’s for the best.
So when can I preorder? TAKE MY MONEY
July 17, 2013 at 16:57 #8197Many, many games have failed completely recently because they were rushed out the door, and were so broken that the damage just couldn’t be repaired (Legends of Pegasus, Stronghold 3, Sword of the Stars II etc).
Take your time, do it properly, and make Age of Wonders 3 a game that will sit among the greats.
July 18, 2013 at 00:07 #8202Yeah elemental war on magic had the potential to be an awesome game with amazing new ideas I think anyone who has tried it and who is a fan of age of wonders could agree, but it got released before it was ready was so full of bugs and patches that didn’t work it was a flop turning would be fans to angry customers.
Very happy to wait. And cant wait to find out about the classes in the demo!

If we would, we will probably put up a little competition before that time.

Dominions 3 is a great game, but I don’t have the flexibility to play a game like that against humans, so I’m stuck with the AI. Yesterday I played the game for the first time since sort of understanding the way it’s meant to be played and I steamrolled the AI on the “Impossible” setting. Not gonna buy part 4 unless it’s got some seriously beefed up computer opponents.
July 18, 2013 at 20:28 #8275To each his own. 🙂
Dom4 does have improvements in the single player side and more options to limit the AI from doing stupid stuff by restricting some of its choices. Some of those things are now hardcoded and more can be done with mods due to certain new mod commands.
It’s still nowhere near what a human opponent would be and can be beaten if you play like you would against a human. You could play a team game as a lone god against an alliance of AI, which you can’t in Dom3, so that’s a new thing. In your case, I advise waiting until the post-release press and word of mouth starts giving reliable user feedback so you will know whether it is right for you or not.
However, for anyone who wishes to know more about the Dominions series, please ask at the proper venue (the Dominions forums over at Desura). I wish to respect the request from Triumph to not advertise other products here since this forum is intended to discuss AoW3. I do not want to trespass and abuse their hospitality in that regard. So back to the regularly scheduled programming.
