Age of Wonders 3 winner of Dutch Game Awards
The best Dutch game of 2014 is Triumph Studios’ Age of Wonders 3. The game won the award on Tuesday evening during the Dutch Game Awards in TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.
The studio from Leiden (nu.nl got this wrong, it’s kind of a sloppy website in the details) received the Control Industry Award, the overall award for the best pc / consolegame.
Other winners were among others Game Over, which together with the National Ballet and composer Bart Delissen won the award for best co-production for the dancing game Bounden. Check In, Knock Out, made by students from HKU under the name Lionade Games, won two out of three study-related awards.
According to judge member and editor in chief of games journal Control Eric Bartelson, the level of submissions was high this year. “In a lot of categories the discussions took more time than usual. It is no longer the case that one good game can easily collect three to four awards. The competition has grown too fierce for that.”

November 27, 2014 at 07:37 #136109Wow, congrats Triumph.
Didn’t know the new Killzone/Lara Croft came outa Dutch Devstudios tho….some fierce competion to you regarding you won the “Best overall PC/Console game“
November 27, 2014 at 09:24 #136118Thanks 🙂
Indeed some fierce competition, Killzone is created by Guerrilla Games, our biggest Dutch Game Studio. Tombraider isn’t actually created by a dutch studio (Nixxes), but it being ported by them to the PS4. Still a great technical achievement. Other recent successful Dutch games are Luftrausers by Vlambeer and Reus by Abbey Games (winner last year).
