    Hi everyone! I got an idea and would like to see what you guys think about it.

    Basically, it would be having some sort of special heroes you can get from a dwelling by perhaps doing some very special (hard and rare) quests for them, or heroes from races related to the dwelling.

    For example, a giant’s dwelling could have a troll hero (because having a giant hero would definitely be too op), nagas could have some sort of special naga hero, fairies could have a fairy one, merfolk a merman, dragons a wyvern etc.

    It would probably be lots of work, but I would still like to talk about the idea.

    I’d love to see localised heros,it would have be a setting you could enable,so instead of starting the game with heros appearing at your cities they instead appear at a dwelling,with appreance being determined on well your relation is with the dwelling’s race is.

    I think this is a good idea. I would love to have a Naga hero. They would probably be a lot stronger than racial heros (regrowth on the naga one for example), but perhaps this could be balanced.

    Yes!!!! This would be great.

    Maybe these hereos couldn’t get mounts/some items to compensate, if they are to strong.
    I think it would be impossible for a naga/troll to sit on a mount (imagine a troll n a unicorn).

    HAHAHA, the image of a troll on a unicorn cracked me up, and yes, actually a troll hero was the first thing i thought of!
    And you are right, the OPness could probably be balanced by limiting their available level up skills and equipment.
    This way a regular hero would be way more versatile and potentially more powerful on the long run (more items, more unlockable skills)

    On-topic: I like the idea. A possible balance factor could be to restrict some items – a Giant/Troll hero for example might be unable to use mounts.(to heavy), while a Dragon Hero might be restricted more (also unable to use weapons (no hands) and armor might not really be their size..).

    However, you could keep the level up systems…

    Interesting idea, I made a post in the past regarding some hero related proposals that could go along with this. I will re-post these here:

    Why not introduce heroes specializations? I think this could be done in so many ways- heroes could have specializations, either like the leader or independently. They could also be tied to ones – so you receive heroes based on your specializations. You could have mastery level techs that buff your heroes with special permanent abilities, and you could also have techs in which heroes give special effects to all other heroes and the leader. This could also be scaled, so with some leader specializations you will get imperial specializations on your heroes that unlock on some level.

    And another: Elemental heroes. Why not make an option to recruit special elementals as heroes? This would become an option once elemental mastery is chosen and you would also have 3 divine that are unlocked on alignment mastery. These heroes will not have a class but will be unique units that give some empire wide buff to your units or are especially powerful in some respect as combat units. They would for instance have a very different spell book from that of class heroes that have a normal arsenal, full of secret spells and elemental sphere magic, and of course unique spells if the devs really like this idea ;).

    I think this would be cool as long as there restricted cause otherwise you would have really OP hero’s.

    Like the idea for elemental heros. Maybe this could be limited to one hero per player, if they are really that powerful.

    If this is limited to elemetal spheres it would also make them more interesting. I recall that many people complaint, that the new specialisations are choosen to often.

    What i had in mind for dwelling heroes was something like what you mentioned for elementals: a spell book that makes sense with the unit it comes from, or specific skills that make sense with that unit.
    Actually, that’s how i thought it would be possible to avoid the problem of them being OP:
    They have specific skills that don’t belong to classes but rather selected according to the kind of creature it is.

    As an example for the stack leader buffs:

    Trolls some physical buffs (more damage, mor defense, some inflict x ability perhaps)
    Nagas/Merfolk add water-related buffs + some other different stuff (water walking, fire resistance, etc.)

    In order to prevent them from having a big (game-changing) impact and at the same time to make them feel unique and useful, I believe it would be a good idea to make them extremely rare, like it takes effort to manage to get one, maybe two, in one game.

    A slightly more subtle way of balancing them could be some might not be able to use certain items. So obviously a dragon wouldn’t be using any weapon or mount. Probably almost every hero item would be unusable, wheras an ogre could (probably) use most things, albiet again, not a mount? That would balance it against the ‘normal’ heroes.

    Yes, pretty much so – I think a dragon hero would be an equally powerful uber-being. Imagine a spellcasting dragon leading an army of dragons, wyverns and draconians…
    Like a “flight of dragons” event. It could even last for many turns and start with just the scouts appearing as more and more of the dragons arrive, culminating with an ancient dragon wizard of Tempest arriving to scour the land of humans. 🙂

    Btw, is there a list of Pandora Box cataclysms and events somewhere?

    Love the idea Lord Cosa65, A dragon/giant or Naga that could be leveled and skilled. forget the inventory and equipment, only a skill tree would be great.

    and the best part is that they don’t have to make new spirits, just edit the old ones with different new colors should be enough to keep the normal plebian dragons separated from the awesome hero dragons.

    I can’t use search (mobile phone Internet) but I proposed this idea about a year ago, along with being able to use the dwellings as playable races.

    I even came up with a gold and mana based start system whereby you could pay extra to start as a non Humanoid hero or hero of a different race, so you could roleplay a Dragon Theocrat delivering the Draconians from oppression.

    Elemental heroes is something new.

    Needless to say I support this idea.

    Search Cosmic Event in the Tome. We’ve got some in the Wiki, but I’m not 100% sure if it’s complete. Never really looked at it.

    Thanks, I found it after googling it.

    Odd that there are only 4 types of “powerful hero” events. Maybe there could be more added, with fey/dragon/giant/naga heroes and their armies added.

    Btw, one more thing – it really reduces the use of the Mermaids/Sirens that they are swimming only. If the Lord of the Deep can walk on land, why can’t they? At least some way should exist for you to “move” them from one body of water to the next, like a land transport – like the old Air Galley.

    I like this idea.

    This is not a new one, i remember 2 thread where is was proposed – but i didn’t succeed to find them… seems they disapeared in the big hard disk in the sky.
