Yeah he likes his bling. as BBB said. Hehe.
Great stuff.March 15, 2014 at 11:41 #47503
Even as a fellow betatester I loved watching this. Great way to watch with a few cups of coffee in the morning indeed. Nice footage and good commentary BBB. Well done guys!March 15, 2014 at 13:40 #47553
great fight – no guarantee who would win, and the guy who knew what he signed up for lol – looking forward to dwarf goodness 🙂 thanks againMarch 15, 2014 at 14:40 #47577
Awwwww… BBB You are too nice, Thanks! hehehe.
Awsome videos, very very entertaining. Subscribed. 😛March 15, 2014 at 16:01 #47603
Yep. great stuff. Love to see that even the smallest maps are quite big and it looks great.
Learned quite a few things and hope to see more mp up to release.March 15, 2014 at 16:17 #47618
A stack of drones must be terrifying 🙂
Nice vid, will you post more of the session, if not .. who won ??March 15, 2014 at 16:45 #47631
Great to watch, also because the pace of the game is so much more enjoyable than the other let’s plays on YouTube. Nice battle in the last video. Hopefully there will be more of these videos from you in the near future, BBB.
Just roughly two more weeks and I can play it myself; I’m counting the days till march 31st! 😀March 15, 2014 at 16:58 #47647
Nice video. It causes me to concerned about two things, though.
1) The game performance seems pretty bad; it seems to lag like crazy and have large framerate drops throughout the video.
2) Autocombat looks terrible, and will probably stop me from playing multiplayer. Stuff like losing heroes or big beetles to what should be an easy battle thanks to autocombat seems to add way too much chance to the outcome of the game, and I think it’d cause me to rage way too much to enjoy it.March 15, 2014 at 16:59 #47648
Praise the Prophet for BLOODYBATTLEBRAIN’s letsplay videos!March 15, 2014 at 17:25 #47672
I guess we learned that one should not walk around as a dreadnought without cannons and destabilized mana core. (is there a diabolical grinning smiley option?)
Also must second the losing important stuff in auto combat thing. I really hope they manage to conjure up an AI that takes better care of important stuff.
On a related note, is auto/manual combat solely the attacker’s choice? It looked to me like BBB was losing drones without having the option to manually control them.March 15, 2014 at 17:47 #47680
Nice, very nice.March 15, 2014 at 17:58 #47687
Question: I noticed at the beginning of the vid that you can save created heroes/rulers. Will those created heroes/rulers (that you’re not using) show up randomly for CPU rivals or as heroes offering to join? It’d be a neat feature….March 15, 2014 at 18:01 #47690
BBB’s PC is not built for recording, he did it just becouse we all are starved for a good lets play. Recording a video is taxing on You CPU.March 15, 2014 at 18:45 #47721
Awesome! I had a blast watching it. Autocombat can be a bitch. Its diffrent to play fast games likes this, with the wrong units duying in autocombat to often.March 15, 2014 at 18:55 #47730
BBB! How could you let that swordsman deal so much damage?
This video really shows cavalry isn’t great for sieges 😛 My hint for today: when going into sieges, take units that do well in them. The beetle was a good one, maybe you should have cast bless on it. Though I guess you wasted a casting turn on that blind.
Here’s a hint for next time: blind states that the affected unit cannot target a unit beyond one hex. Flame throwing doesn’t target units but just carpets all hexes in a general direction with flames. That’s why I doubt any AoE ability will be prevented with blind. Haven’t tested this though. I’m now actually highly curious whether it works for ranged AoE attacks like that of the draconian flamer.
Well done, you put out quite a bit of video here.March 15, 2014 at 19:16 #47742
great fight – no guarantee who would win, and the guy who knew what he signed up for lol – looking forward to dwarf goodness thanks again
I loved that exchange, too! 😉March 15, 2014 at 19:43 #47765
WOOOOO cant wait for the next one >: D! First you’re all “ooh i hope hes dwarves so i can smash him” but THEN you’re like “i be dwarves next!”
Hmmm too bad you were Dreadnought this game and cant be Warlord next game… I should really change my forum name, DarkDain is so old, i go by Dwarfurious/Khor now.March 15, 2014 at 20:18 #47789
Double post! Of course blind didnt work ! It shoots a cone, it can just target the hex right in front of itself and let splash damage do the rest ! Not sure if thats how it worked in the previous games. Its like blinding a swordsmen who has a 80 foot long sword !March 15, 2014 at 20:45 #47797
In general, with exception to the lets play that’s shown, how is performance when it comes to multiplayer? Has any closed beta players tried out multiplayer with more than one player? How is the general performance and is there any sync issues?March 15, 2014 at 21:10 #47804
Like I said in the commentary, that was a first for me to see the performance struggle, hence not being sure what was going on exactly.
Ref the beetle, he was sacrificial. I suppose he could have lasted longer but I wanted him to pay attention there and let me come up on my right, which more or less worked.
In general, with exception to the lets play that’s shown, how is performance when it comes to multiplayer? Has any closed beta players tried out multiplayer with more than one player? How is the general performance and is there any sync issues?
We have had 5 players now I think, might have been 6.
There was an issue about a month ago with different languages causing out of sync messages, but that was resolved.
Someone asked about the Drones just being “lost” and the answer is that yes, the attacker initiates the combat and can choose manual/auto. A point to note is that in player versus player auto combat, spell casting is disabled.
Those fights with the Drones were essentially foregone conclusions so I didn’t mind that he auto’d them.
I did lose a hero in auto, but that was half due to my carelessness. Heroes are high value targets, so it pays to have some expendable units to shield them.March 15, 2014 at 21:22 #47812
Wait, so someone with an inferior army can attack you, press Auto and make you lose a hero ? And what does it mean spell casting is disabled in player versus player auto ? I hope only for the attacker. Otherwise, it’s exploitable. If you have a disadvantage in spells, attack and press AUTO.March 15, 2014 at 21:33 #47817

If someone does that enough to make it into an exploit, just don’t play with them. The whole point of this game is to have fun, and the basic ethos of online play is that if someone is behaving in a way that makes it less fun and useful, especially if there are newer players involved, then ignore him. It’s always been that way.
Remember that this isn’t Starcraft where you need to won no matter what.
That said, if the army is markedly inferior, why would he be attacking? If it is slightly inferior, he’d be going tactical surely.
I lost the hero because the numbers I used to attack were roughly the same as the defenders, and I believe defenders get priority in auto combat, AND none of my units were at full health iirc.
The spellcasting thing was an actual exploit-run up with a suicidal unit, auto the battle, enemy uses his spells, roll up with your main army, which still has spells, and win!
And if only the defender can cast spells but the attacker not, well that sounds terrible to me.
This was the best solution we could come up with, i.e. the least exploitable.March 15, 2014 at 21:48 #47821
Autocombat should require both players to agree to autocombat, or it should default to manual. Autocombat as a whole is too exploitable/unreliable to be used in a real PVP fight.
EDIT: ::insert Ninja emoticon::March 15, 2014 at 21:49 #47824
Maybe this has been discussed before, but why doesn’t it just ask both players involved in the combat if they want to auto? Then only auto if they both pick it?
Although like you said not really an issue for me as I only plan on playing with people I know, so we’ll just agree before hand no autos vs humans.
edit: I agree with the guy that ninjaed me 😛March 15, 2014 at 21:59 #47832
Nice vids BBB, I enjoyed watching. Quick question:
I rarely auto-combat but all I ever play is single player. I noticed you auto-combat quite a bit. When playing multiplayer, is it kind of an un-written rule that should auto-combat more often, or is that just your play style?March 15, 2014 at 22:03 #47836
Looks fantastic, thanks BBB!
Would the Orc spearmen’s sprint ability have allowed them to get in range of the hero towards the end of the city battle?March 15, 2014 at 22:10 #47842

Ordinarily, we set the combat to humans only.
If you don’t do this, be prepared for a longer game, because there are many fights typically before you even meet another player.
In singleplayer I tactical everything (unless I am testing a build I hope to use in multiplayer) and take my time to enjoy the scenery.
Would the Orc spearmen’s sprint ability have allowed them to get in range of the hero towards the end of the city battle?
Yes, but they wouldn’t have been able to do anything at the end of that turn.
