    Hello,

I’m hoping somebody can help explain the various healing abilities. The descriptions on the wiki and in game don’t fully make sense to me yet.

First, if an ability says it heals “x per turn”, does that consistently refer to combat turns or strategic map turns?

Another thing that doesn’t make sense to me is the difference between these two hero abilities:
    http://age-of-wonders-3.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Natural_Healer
    http://age-of-wonders-3.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Healing
The first seems to heal 6 per turn, while the second ability heals for 20 and can be used in combat to heal for 20. Isn’t Healing just vastly superior then?

Finally, is there an explanation anywhere of units “natural” healing abilities, meaning before any of these abilities? Does it differ in a city, in your own domain, in a stack with a hero?

    Thanks for any help.

The first increases the natural healing rate of units from 6 to 12(+6 over base), stacking with other sources of Fast Healing as well, such as the Draconian racial passive. The latter applies to a single unit first, with overflow to any following units as appropriate.

Technically, although circumstantially not often due to damage more often being focused than it is spread, +6/unit can reach 36 total healing if all units in the stack are missing 12 Health or more.

    —–

Of course, neither of those influence Undead. The only strategic healing unit abilities that work for Undead are the Heal Undead ability itself, Nourishing Meal, and the personal healing provided by the Regeneration aspect of the Regrowth ability.

First, “x per turn” means on the strategic map. “Per round” would be a combat reference. A unit with healing will heal 20 points of damage to a stack on the strategic map every turn, spread out amongst injured units.

“Natural healing” and “fast healing” are innate abilities of heroes and units, respectively while “healing” is a chosen or medal ability. So while healing is probably “better,” because it can be used in combat (and multiple times in a turn if one fights multiple battles that turn) it is kind of like apples and oranges. Fast healing helps a lot for creeping.

Thanks, that makes sense now. I didn’t realize the Healing ability meant 20 points total, spread out over the stack.
