And here we have the brand new 27+ minute Let’s Play style Video by our very own Tombles. It shows the ferocious Tigran race, the Keeper of the Peace specialization and the Unifier Victory Condition in action. Enjoy!
April 9, 2015 at 18:00 #178813First!
April 9, 2015 at 18:01 #178815Very interesting. =D
Thumbs up for Tombles.
April 9, 2015 at 18:13 #178816I may be jumping the gun a bit but could Tigran Hunters have a Sun Spear as their main weapon?
Also, Spiritual Freedom description has a typo: “…within that city’s boarders”. Don’t they spell “borders”?
P.S. I also long for “turning into anmial” ability for AD Shamans in later development badly!
“Yay!” for the rest.
April 9, 2015 at 18:26 #178821Nice vid, I really like the Tigrans* and just a while back I didn’t even think they would be in! So many cool things get added in this expansion… there’s all the obvious stuff like new races, class and units, but I also really like that arctic and desert terrain finally are preferred to some races now. I liked AOW2 but really thought AOW:SM was the ultimate version of AOW2 and now after 1 year and 2 expansions I think AOW3 might have gone through the same level of evolution. Of course I hope there is more to come, but in total it seems the game has matured a lot in its first year.
It does seem that new races and classes from both the expansions get all the interesting mechanics and interactions between units and skills, so do keep taking a look at the original races and classes and apply changes to them if you think it could help to differentiate between the various races and classes!
* Had to change my avatar to this flabbergasted cat, best leader/hero face in game now :p
April 9, 2015 at 18:27 #178822Nice video thanks. BBB it’s your turn, can’t wait to see yours.

April 9, 2015 at 18:44 #178826awesome!
am i the only one who had editor-thrill when there was autumn colored trees about halfway thru?April 9, 2015 at 18:56 #178830Can I haz world peace?
April 9, 2015 at 19:02 #178832awesome!
am i the only one who had editor-thrill when there was autumn colored trees about halfway thru?Yep noticed that too. And that was quiet awesome! I had an event recently when spring of life appeared in the middle of the frozen terrain and it looked wired there with all it’s greenness. A little bit of autumn decay or simply one hex autumn surrounding could do the trick there.
April 9, 2015 at 19:11 #178834Rebels appear EACH TURN BEHIND THE WALL… OP spell rly.

it’s not a SPELL. It’s a betrayal mechanic. It does not matter by wich way you would bring a city to betrayal.

April 9, 2015 at 19:16 #178837Really informative and hilarious video on the
Tigranskitty cats. I really love the new geology and terrain features, like the plateaus/mesas and the autumn coloured forests. And did I see shifting sands on the new desert terrain?Five more days people, 5 more days… 118 hours and 44 minutes people… 😀

April 9, 2015 at 20:33 #178859Kittycats for the win, only one race can rule the world, we all know it!
Can’t wait to tiger around with them… 🙂
April 9, 2015 at 20:37 #178863Why doesn’t the sphinx have the -1 resistance? It has 11 resistance just like all the other T3s.
April 9, 2015 at 20:47 #178869I realise that ingame text is all “locked up” until release now, but I REALLY hope that that “Deity” spelling error gets corrected.
April 9, 2015 at 20:51 #178872Did anyone else notice that the Arch Angel was an irregular instead of the anticipated support making Keeper of Peace have even better synergies with rogues? A tier 4 healing resurgent unit to bolster shadow stalkers sounds quite awesome and the spell that encourages a city to rebel sounds fun with courtesans.
April 9, 2015 at 21:31 #178882Nice video. I was only expecting you to attack that egyptian sphynx-like thingy in the north-east of your starting city domain, I was curious to see a battle taking place there.

My best guess is that they might have been a bit OP for some classes as supports, especially Sorcerers. Rogues don’t give them much apart from urban concealment, backstab, and poison mastery. I’m not sure if Irregular training also applies to summoned units, the text only talks about produced units.
April 9, 2015 at 22:16 #178893Irregular Angel is interesting, Sundren respecced as Peacekeeper Rogue was the build I was looking forward to most. And while Rogue itself may not boost her Irregularness that much, self-respecting Rogues take Explorer, so that’s a 36 Move flyer, which are always nice and somewhat rare. (Edit: or not, forgot that trail running was nerfed for flyers. Dangit.)
Nice to see some ballpark for Race Governance experience numbers. Looks like
lvl 1 – 20 exp (that’s early, so settler cost reduction economics make a lot of sense)
lvl 2 – ?? (probably 200 or 250)
lvl 3 – 500 (not *that* much and we see some key military boosts this level)
lvl 4 – 1000 (looks like we’ll stay at 3 for a good while)
lvl 5 – ?? (1500 or 2000 probably, so that’s a lot of work)
(cumulative numbers, like unit exp is displayed most places)Looks like “base” experience production is 1 per city size level with actually no increase for city happiness itself?
Some numbers didn’t seem to add up.
It makes sense for vassals to give double exp (giving points both for town and vassal town), but it looks like this was awarded for all towns, including non-vassals? (Capital and the betrayed town weren’t vassals, the frostling city was not a vassal yet, but all gave the (vassal) Race exp award too)
Also, 25% of 30 is not 4. What’s up with that?
Either some numbers aren’t behaving as intended, or the layout of that Experience UI has severe problems.April 9, 2015 at 22:22 #178896Nice to see some ballpark for Race Governance experience numbers. Looks like
April 9, 2015 at 22:23 #178898Pretty sure that’d be some cheated up one-off point income to demonstrate the levelups, not changes to the entire underlying display and mechanics?
April 9, 2015 at 23:04 #178907Interesteing and entertaining LP. Good work Tombles as usual! : )
Love the new music that can be heard all through the LP..! Very atmosphericApril 9, 2015 at 23:14 #178909Very cool. I’m super excited about the release later this week.
Perhaps I’m speaking too early, but I sort of hope there are plans to re-examine the Explorer sphere at some point. Explorer not really being much of a help for actual exploration and instead of being a crutch of Rogues and now a boost for T3 and T4 units seems a bit weird. It doesn’t help any of the dedicated scouting units except the new Warrior one, leaving Cherubs, Spy Drones, Crows, and Wisps with no extra mobility, while primarily boosting Rogues class combat units. It seems like some of the existing Explorer traits should be rolled into the Rogue class and the ones currently there be changed in some way.
April 10, 2015 at 02:29 #178940Why doesn’t the sphinx have the -1 resistance? It has 11 resistance just like all the other T3s.
Considering they have Mind Control Immunity, True Sight and are very magical, it’s not that surprising for Sphinxes to have 12 – 1 = 11 Resistance. For what it’s worth 60HP 11/11 Def/Res puts them tied with Eagle Riders for base stat fragility(ignoring the interactions between Physical Weakness and Lucky and survival).
Did anyone else notice that the Arch Angel was an irregular instead of the anticipated support making Keeper of Peace have even better synergies with rogues? The Arch Angel is a Support as of the current patch. I’m not sure what patch# Tombles was playing on, specifically.
April 10, 2015 at 02:43 #178942I noticed the change too, perhaps Archangels should be both irregulars and supports?
I can see Rogue Player’s casting Plague of Bandits and then Rally Populance on a city and in time Age of Deception to really turn an enemies own cities against them.
I also meantain that Expander is a perfectly good specialization for Peace Keepers.
BTW I always that Tigrans were pronounced Tiger-ans, not Tiggerans. No wonder Tigran Shamans turn into Bears, they’re turning into Winnie the Pooh!
All the Tiggerans need now is is for Scouts to turn into werepigs, Pigglet, Tigran Manticore Riders to turn into Weredonkeys, E-or, and for a racial goverance military level to grant Tigran units the ability to bounce around on they’re tails. Oh and an economic goverance ability that causes all buildings to cost -50 gold and produce pots of honey 🙂
April 10, 2015 at 02:58 #178943Tiggerans
Oh, bother.
April 10, 2015 at 03:07 #178944Pretty sure that’d be some cheated up one-off point income to demonstrate the levelups, not changes to the entire underlying display and mechanics?
Maybe! I’ll hope you are right as I expect my unifier victories to be many and often.
