    Hello folks ^^
In last time i often have my cities surrounded by air-mananodes.
As an Earth-Master i don´t like this nasty airloving nodes and tried to convert them.
But it didn´t worked… i always though this spell was made for this situations but you only can use this spell with normal mananodes…
So i was damned to suffern in nearly zero mana-income and lost this game.

Am i the only one who think that this should be changed and effect every type of mananode – in my opinion the researchbuff for fitting mananodes isn´t too powerfull to prohibite this. And otherwise the nerf of unfitting mananodes is really hard…
    So other thoughts please?

It was done so to prevent mana node conversion wars. Though, I think it was fun in AoW2…
But these are new spells, and you’d be in the same situation even before they appeared in the game.

Kind of liked the conversion wars myself too – but if they don’t want that, how about a two step process? What I mean is adding a skill, possibly on adept level, to transform a elemental node into a neutral node – which thereafter could be converted into a preferred elemental node by the already implemented spell. This would make the process slower and conversion wars quite costly and time-consuming.

I like this idea. Also, since you can only target nodes in your domain (as far as I know) there shouldn’t even be a real issue with possible “conversion wars”.

+1 to something like this. And yes there can be no conversion wars in AoW currently.

Another approach is increase the % of the neutral mana nodes in the game.

    Nope. Relative node diversity ftw.

Well that kinda negates the -5 Mana penalty of Mastery, now, doesn’t it?

all that would mean is you have more reason to convert an opposing node. i feel like the penalty was added more to be cool than to balance them out, but the main thing to be concerned about is the big research bonus you would be able to get if the RMG was favorable so the mana cost would have to be pretty high i think considering youre getting what are essentially shrines and labs for just mana cost and without tying up a cities production.

The -5 manapenalty aalready works… Until you convert it 😉
I dont think these researchbuff you can geht is too high.
Compare it with the buffs the New specialisation got – and you have to put much work in it with much conversationing to reach your researchbuff.

For this i also like the stepconvert-idea!
    Great job @escl 😉

Another approach is increase the % of the neutral mana nodes in the game.

There are already roughly two times as many Neutral Nodes on average, than there are Nodes for specific types. That is to say, if the average amount of Elementals Nodes was equal to about 5 each, then there would on average be about 10 Neutral Nodes.

I think that was the result of our tests, right Picard?
