Some pre-fun before the release I guess. I can barely take it anymore, also sad that the release will be at 19:00 in the evening. CET tomorrow, while I have a lot of free time tomorrow afternoon. Boooo

Anyways how will your first EL game look like? What race/class combo will you pick?

I’m still not sure, but I will most likely go Tigran/Rogue. I’ve never played rogue before so I really need to give them a go and so far I really like the Tigrans from what I’ve seen.
I’m very unsure about which specialisations I will pick though. I’m think about master grey guard, but what other spec?

First, I will have to spend a while making Leaders.

And then maybe tomorrow I’ll get to play.

Forstling Warlord first, then a Tigran with a class yet to pick. It is gonna be amazing!

    Lord Kwibus,

My first game would be in the next format,

    Race: Orc
    Class: Warlord
    Spec: Wind, Wind, Torch
    Map: Random XL
    Enemies: allot
alignment: hmmm what would it be good maybe?

it will be an bloodbath even before the spell has been cast.

The Campaign. I devoured the Golden Realms one through the night that GR came out, I expect I’ll do the same with EL, with the added wrinkle of having three endings to go after and that apparently the final scenario is really tough.

I figured out how to make a playlist. I’m such a youtube noob.

    Tigran LP.

Hotseat match with all the new elements to test them against some neutral stacks and judge the impacts.
then I’ll take the features that appeal most for a random map game.

My first game will be Frostlings with any class except Necromancer. Most likely it will be Warlord but nothing set in stone yet. After that Tigran X and then some Necromancer with Keeper of Peace specialization. 😀

    #180301

spending the first 20min in the “Tome Of Wonders” finding out all the new stuff and combinations. Before playing my Frostling Warlord or rogue on a random map.

    #180304

Not so sure yet. Guess it will be either the campaign or one of the new preset scenarios with dwarf warlord (Greyguard or Keeper Master + Earth) going for the unifier victory and testing Race Governance!

My friend Cornelius Row will do a Let’s Play with Tigran Necromancer with the Peace Keeper Mastery (with backstory).

I probably be spending loads of time in the leader editor, as I need to tweak most custom leaders and make new ones. On Wednesday another friend of mine and me will start a 24+ hours marathon LAN party of pizza, beer and Eternal Lords! Looking forward to that one!

The wait gets unbearable, especially with all the footage already available.

    Kind regards,

    Low

I will definitely play the campaign first. I think it will be awesome and at the same time be a good tutorial for all the new stuff that this grand expansion contains

(First thought: Necromancer Theocrat to check if the Healingupgrade is changed for undead. Yeah I know… -_-)
I’ll probably check the wiki for some things while EL is downloading. Hopefully the new Specialisations are there. I doubt it will be updated immediately though.

Anyway, Dwarf Warlord will probably be the first. Just to make Firstborn with Slaughter Pits, Enchanted Armory and Governance Upgrades to watch everything else die (and because Firstborn are awesome) and hopefully find pretty much every new Treasuresite and the Dwelling. Maybe some upgraded Phalanx(?) too.
High Elf Druid, Tigran Rogue and Frostling Sorcerer/Dradnought will follow.
Not that keen on the Necromancer though. I need to see how the Races affect the Units.

By the way, why does the Sphinx (Building) give a Pikeman Upgrade but the Sphinx (Unit) is Irregular? Doesn’t it make sense, that the Sphinxbeam would blind people? ^^

Thanks. Watching you play is always good.

I was very pleased with the explorminate let’s plays and Marbozir (really like his let’s plays) also did an let’s play of eternal lords, but just like the explorminate guys he plays a really poor game and while it’s fun to watch the new stuff the mess ups and fails make it really unbearable to watch 🙂

While a player like Marbozir is really a skilled gamer, but he clearly isn’t an aow player.

I also have plans on playing an Goblin Theocrat with destruction mastery and make it an role play game in which I will play a crazy zealot that wants to spread blight all over the world.

Most definitely a multiplayer match with me as a Halfling Necromancer (full shadowborn spec + destruction) and a friend of mine playing Tigran Rogue (no idea which specs he’ll take but it wouldn’t surprise me if he went full torchbearer just to becoming my arch nemesis) xD

Also, undead brewmasters, how about yes? 😀

    #180328

Draconian Necromancer who wishes to play with dead things and yet somehow unify all the races beneath a banner… to which victory will be celebrated with a parade of ghouls dancing to Thriller. Much merriment will be had, to be sure!

Probably campaign! Then am going to try some custom maps with Tigran theocrat with peacekeeper master and Frostling sorcerer with grey guard master.

It is a well-known thing that n 4x strategies majority of ppl prefer random maps, I know why but really dont like them much. Even it is a great RMG in AOW3

Custom scenarios and scripted campaigns are a lot better imho, cause they are drawn, ballanced and are done in a good-looking way, a map which is interesting to explore as it is done in a certain shape.

Random maps are good for mp (obiously), also they are fine source of replayability, but I really dont like random created maps. It is not a dev’s fault, it is just as RMG works. They are really dull and you dont feel you are playing a “map”, more like a random stuff mixed in a form.

On the other hand, you can customize your map session the way you like so you you will play a game YOU want with settings you prefer despite of map settings, even if it is a 8-player ballanced MP premade map – it is fun to explore only for the first play.

Ye it seems a bit strange to hear that about 4x game but still you can play the way you want in a premade nautral maps. Pitty there are not much of emas well as too few campaign maps.

Me too. I want to test the 3 specializations, the new races, and Necromancer.

    Easy Question.

    Necromancer with Frostlings.

Sauron + Winter is coming, go.

    I’ll try the Campaign first.

Then maybe a Grey Guard Dreadnaught. Although I think the Torchbearer specialty will be my favorite.

Tigran Rogue or Warlord with Explorer also sounds neat.

I was thinking: this expansion will suit a Game of Thrones scenario pretty well. Problem is there are not quite ‘races’ in GoT so you need to replace some human peoples with other races. The Dornish can be Tigrans for instance. Maybe Greyjoy can be Frostling Warlord (I made Balon Greyjoy as Human Rogue) and other things.

Of course magic is more apparent in AoW3 than in AGOT. :p

    Spec: Wind, Wind, Torch

wut? You’re gonna play with a Good Alignment spec?

Are you sick? want me to call a doctor?

The Campaign. I devoured the Golden Realms one through the night that GR came out, I expect I’ll do the same with EL, with the added wrinkle of having three endings to go after and that apparently the final scenario is really tough.

I can recommend it. Campaign is really fun and there’s a lot of choices you can make. I just completed a certain route for the testing, but I advise to play normal or lower because I think around 90% of the forumites will get wrecked if they try and play the campaign on hard without foreknowledge. At Normal, it’s quite a bit harder than Elven Court/Commonwealth on Hard. On Hard, prepare to get r****.

My first game…was, I believe, High Elf Necromancer. Didn’t take me long to restart, cause I messed up badly. Trust me, you can really mess up Necromancer if you don’t know what you’re doing. And if you do, you still can if you don’t pay attention for like 2 moves.

    #180358

Well seen Lord Gloweye, let me congratulate you for your keen wits.

But you don’t have to call off the doctor, he is already death by now.

This is an tactical choice and far more evil then just become an Shadowborn, I choose the good spec because I will play evil, then the “good” buffed people will become upset and start to rebel against me.

After that I can slaughter my own empire with the elite guards and dragons Ill prepare for this moment. I am going to enjoy this. allot.

Lure those who are good to your side, then slaughter them. the perfect plan.

I think my first two games will be “a comparison test”.

Dwarven Theocrat Peacekeeper/creation adept going for the Unifier Victory.

Frostling Necromancer Peacekeeper/creation adept going for the Unifier Victory (this is expected to go very very badly)

    And then, multi-player awaits.

That was pretty much my intent, and what I’d been hearing from various testers about the campaign difficulty had me convinced I wasn’t going to want to play this one on Hard first off.

Indeed. I think maybe a LP explaining how the various elements work together is in order!

Frostling Necromancer Peacekeeper/creation adept going for the Unifier Victory (this is expected to go very very badly)

Necromancer has slower racial governance and a weaker end game economy, both things that are useful for a Unifier victory.

Word of advice, with the Unifier, use it on larger/longer games.

Thats really great to hear. I managed to beat both original (including tourchbearers path) and GR campaigns 2 times on hard without any troubles at all, 2nd time with 1.5 beta patch without loosing a single unit instead of scouts through all campaigns. With lots of reloads 2nd time ofc, but still.

If new campaign offers a great challange on hard thats perfect! I wish I will be destroyed and restart new campaign levels to choose another strategy. Fighting a good script and finding proper tactic is also very fun.

Then you can master your ways in MP games, using what you have learned through this campaign hell.
