Let’s say that next DLC/Expansion is the last one, and they are throwing everything at it. What would you like to see?

New Races: I don’t really see new races, we got 8 perfectly fine races and (to me) they seem perfectly balanced. Adding a new race might throw things off, that said, I do have a few ideas for some dwellings.

New Dwellings: I am ironically not a fan of them in skirmishes and random maps, but in campaigns, perfectly fine with them (which is fairly funny). But with what looks to be going to the Shadow Realm, I could see three new dwellings popping up: Shadow Demons, Syrons, and Dark Elves.

New “Realms”: I could see two things A) The Shadow Realm and B) Much like the first Age of Wonders game, have it that you can have two separate underground layers, which would add something new.

New Class: This would be going with the whole race thing with balancing, but I would like to have one more class, whether it be Wizard-King, or Warlock, or something, but I think something with magic would be good.

New Leaders: I know this sounds funny, but I would love to have more leaders added in the next DLC/expansion, maybe have 1-2 more for each class/race combo, gives more variety in random maps. And yes I know random maps can throw in custom leaders (whether you chose them or not), but still.

I have some other ideas, which I will add in a sec on what I would like to see.

What about overhauling unit veterancy in some interesting way? Or,more ways to customize units and races?

New Racees: There was a thread discussing lizardmen. There was some really good stuff in there and I guess a return would be quite fitting. But I do not see them as a priority

New dwellings: Sure why not!? But why the heck everybody wants those dark elves back? they were cool but even though I undersantd the lore discussion and reasoning for they return as dwelling, i think it would be poor choice. Just does not feel rigth for me. Syrons would be great though (they have left Athla, but why would all of them have gone? , same for shadow demons actually).

New Relams: A) well it has been sealed has it not? But then you can break pretty much any seal if you try 😉
    B) You already can have the depth! But only in the map editor. You can basically add as many layers as you wish even more than one surface layer! Thus you can have sky/shadow realm like stuff. But I agree that two surfaces is not the same as another realm. And saying that: I would LOVE an option adding at least more than one underground layer when playin random maps!

New CLass: IMO we do not need one but I have red the discussions and find a demon/warlock themed class quite OK.

New Leaders: Well if we get a new race/class/campaign we surely get new leaders!

You dearly forgot: NOMAD specialization! There are some nice specialization discussions/suggestions out there, but this is my alltime favorite!

I hope they improve the alignment system. It still feels very lackluster. There should be an option to start the game as evil, good or neutral and there should be a bit more significance to the choice. Give evil/good/neutral sovereigns general options that fit their alignment without being forced to pick the evil/good/neutral specializations.
There could be city options like puplic executions or welfare programs that allow the player to define his alignment.

Though I am really not sure if I would want living archons to return! I would LOVE a DLC campaign explaingin their demise and turning into undead lore-wise.
And if living archons are to return this HAS to be done with such a campaign!

Improved AI on the map. An often over-looked but critical part of games like this one. Ability to build forts in non-city-building games.

Better diplomacy. Right now it’s too easy to manipulate, offering large sums of disposable mana for gold and temporary friendships means you can pick and choose most wars and get extra gold income.

Greater ship variation making maps with lots of water better. Give each race their own unique ship.

New races – buildings/dwellings – classes: always a welcome addition!

New heroes/leaders: desperately needed, you always see the same heroes over and over again. Ability to add/delete custom heroes for randomly-generated maps would be nice.

Hero specializations and more spell diversity. More powerful magic overall. Maybe another specialization slot.

I want a random-option for each terrain type in the Random Map Generator. Eg. I like to randomize certain terrain types, while for other terrain types I like to set the slider. With the new patch 1.6 the geography sliders have more effect on random generated maps of all map types which is great, but… for some terrain types I just don’t want to know before hand how much is in the map! For example, I set up a game that ensures me a normal ammount of Fertile Lands & Mountains, but for the rest of the terrain types I want to be surprised!!! Also atm after exploring about 2/3 of the map and remembering the geography sliders I can guess too easily what will be in the remaining unexplored part. That kills the fun of exploring and dealing with the unexpected.

Take note that atm you can select Random for each option under the Advanced Rules, GameFlow-tab, which is great btw, but you cannot that for the Geography-tab!

+1. The game can’t determine good/evil very well. I suggest picking a play style that gives benefits and drawbacks to play a certain way. Whether as an additional specialization slot or a new empire culture choice, a player chooses a style. For instance, let’s say I pick Peacemaker. I get bonuses with peace and vassals, appropriate skill upgrades, and receive terrible happiness penalty each time I declare war.

On my wishlist the top things would be:
Something like “Terraformer 2” two to make rivers (moats around my cities 🙂 and raise/level mountains.
Builders should be able to: Create diggable cavern walls (of course for more gold then they get from destroying those!), make cave entrances and on the tactical map produce barricades.
Also please reintroduce spells like “toxic plants” and “woods of evil/good” and the shadow realm.
Apart from what has already has been said. I would really enjoy it of one could draw on this pretty overview map, also in multiplayer for your teammates to see 🙂
But of course I agree with more races, dwellings, specialisations etc. especially if my favourite Aow:sm unit, the leprechaun, could somehow make a comeback!

All in for that one. Also most of the other things are great too (especially Alignment stuff) but this ones important! 😀

I’d like to see even more depth and diversity for each race and class. For the latter I already once suggested new specializations in the current specializations-system for each class that add in more empire upgrades and maybe even units in the theme of the class – maybe even a special aspect of the class.

Also I’d love more racial buildings that may not necessarily add new units but abilities to the other units or other benefits for the city.

This thing i want but it never find its way in the game for the balance sake

THIS. I want it badly. I just need some mana-hungry spell that will make earth burn under feets of my enemies.
    And
    – Custom heroes(pretty please)
    – RMG for map editor
    – Dark elves heroes. With the last expansion elven rogue with shadowborn and earth specializations feels quite like dark elves(especially after you tame some spiders) but i really miss those heroes.

Why would it be imbalanced? Everybody has access to it.
Another thing i’d really love to see have a comeback is the Teleportation Gate. A building that can teleport units from one city to another. Of course one of the very last buildings that can be built.

All I wish from this game is just AI is more intelligent and the RMG works good. Especially the last thing!
Why any independats built cities between the mountains, if they like swamp? Well, they doesnt hate them, but they dont like them too! Or in the forest even? Why should I start as halfling allways in a swamp visible hexagon? Why my elves starts not in the forest???
This is for me most annoing aspect of this part of the game.

Also I would wish, the sites with units upgrade makes finally sence. Now two or three of them are a bit usefull, all others are to be changed.

And I would prefere, to make T1 and 2 units more usefull in a middle or late game. For exaple thanks to strong upgrade in the last part of levels as a master.

We have aquatic dwellings already, how about underwater adventures? Units who breathe would require an enchantment, of course, but it would be a nice “alien” landscape with all new visit sites, treasure sites, and seafaring mounts. Of course, there would be varying depths, and the deeper areas would require stronger magic to endure.

As much as I liked the Lizardmen, the Draconians have the reptilian race covered in my opinion. However, they could incorporate some of the Lizardmen units.

Also, the Shadow realm was so disgustingly beautiful in AoW:SM, I’d love to see that terrain again, perhaps as the home to the Eldritch Horrors and Elder Eldritch’s.

I want a way to write a better ai. Having a better autocombat ai would make me more willing to use it. So, ai scripting tools. Or they could just let me help them write a better ai 🙂

Also, strong modding tools that lets the community make all sorts of neat things.
Aside from those, nothing clear, I’d like to have people tinker with advanced modding tools and trying various things to get a feel for what else would be good to add. There also comes a point where adding things doesn’t make a better game.

WOW, that is basically saying: “We do not need elves, humans have the tall and slender humanoid race covered. However they could incorprate some of the elven units.”
There are some reasons for not bringing back lizardmen (and some to do so) but this is by far the worst!!!!
