I had that bug both with and without mods.
The steps to reproduce the first one are quite simple, if they need to try them a number of times:
1 – Make sure to disable the force quick battle and to enable the movement animations
2 – Get a few heroes equipped with flying mounts (seems like it happens more when using more flying units/hero
3 – Start a battle with these hero
4 – On the battlefield, move the heroes and flying units around (no move and attack click) by double clicking until the bug occurs.
5 – If you wait long enough, the animation often stops looping by itself.
Also, I have the GOG version.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the double click, in fact, as I do it all the time. Maybe it also happens If I don’t double click? But then, I suppose someone would already have reported it? It’s quite harmless most of the time, I’m just annoyed by the constant flap flap of the wings.
In my current game, I only have one flying hero, and I realize it has failed to happen to him yet. I wonder if this would not depend more on the number of quickened flights rather than completely at random, especially as it seems I’m the only one to have reported it so far.
I found a video of an old, but similar animation loop bug on youtube (by a disproportionately angry player), unrelated to flight or right click, but instead related to using a skill; I supposed it was fixed a long time ago : https://youtu.be/7ThH6syamk8?t=31.
That site makes all mods accessible to GoG users, no need to go to Nexus or anywhere else.
Oups! Seems I should have searched more than “gog” on that page before I posted.
Thank you for your patience!
As a GOG client, I feel really sad about all those mods… Moders, Nexus is waiting for your uploads!
And what about GOG players? Is it possible to upload it on the nexus, or somewhere?
This bug has been reported multiple times, and if my memory is right, the dev team stated that, as they could not reproduce it, and is pretty rare, it was too costly to try to fix it. When I say rare, I mean you can easily reproduce it on the configs it happened once, but if you don’t get it the first try, you never will.
Narvek, it is not like that. It’s the AI that captured my tower at the beginning of the turn, and if I hear it correctly, the AI immediately destroyed it.
In the save, it is unlikely that the AI may have a mission on that tower, as there is no independent town close by.
As you probably know, it might also cause a memory leak which will crash a computer and not another.
I am playing a gog version, and launch the game from GOG Galaxy (I like having an idea of how long I played a game; 112 hours and counting, which is quite good in my book.).
Just got the very same one. I kept the save to reproduce if in case someone needs it, but it seems pretty simple to reproduce. Except it is a 750 kB file…
