Thanks, enabling the beta actually worked things out. Now I just have to remember to turn it off while playing my other games.
Is there a way for GOG players to come around this issue? Just wondering.
Well, just to be clear regarding my issues. I actually took two PBEM turns today using the balance mod main branch only (~16:00 +1 GMT) and with that one plus racial class unit reskin (at 19:45 +1 GMT), however I´m not sure that my game was updated with the patch for these games (even though that happens automatically, right?).
I have the same issues. I can provide screenshots and savegames if need be.May 21, 2016 at 14:50 in reply to: Balance based on hard data from the PBEM tournament (continued) #244793
I was asked to give my feedback on this post, so here it is:
For the directions in which to progress, I think A, B1-3 and C all sound neat, especially B3, which aims at making heroes equally potent in PBEM games. This game might as well get better if all race/class combinations are viable options, but nevertheless, everyone would still have their own favorite and arguments towards why a certain combination is good for them.
Regarding the priority changes, here´s my thoughts:
AD07 – fine for me
Dr04 – I like the variant with a fixed chance of stun, but maybe 35% is a bit high, maintenance could be raised to 5 HP/turn; comment – I don´t have much experience with dread, but like the class.
Ro10 – no opinion, rogue already has many upgrade options at high level
Ro12 – fine for me
Ha06 – fine for me
Ha08 – agreeing that this might be too strong, so against
Ha15 – fine for me, but I seldomly play halfling
Ha28 – fine for me
Ne04a – sounds good
Ne09 – fine
Or02 – can be 10 HP´s as you are currently discussing
Fr01a – sounds really good
Also, I´m for increasing upkeep of converted units.
If you need comments on other issues from the very long list of changes, we could maybe take it through the team chatroom on the battefield.

Hi there, I read through the whole of this discussion, and it´s kind of too much information for me to proper digest and give decent input to every issue in the google docs document.
I have only played halflings 2-3 times in PBEM games and have not had much luck with them (in live MP, I would probably not dare to use them of the fear of losing everything to the autocombat). Therefore, in general I´m for changes buffing this race. The sheriff idea is cool, I think, perhaps maybe just some of the skills of that unit could appear on medals on the pony riders.
About the other halfling changes I´m for most of them, but would not be able to foresee if they would make halflings OP, but I don´t think that could happen in any instances. I don´t like the idea of switching the units around, even though the jesters and nightwatches are kind of weak´ish.
I think a lot of uniqueness would be lost by letting all races suddenly not dislike/hate the UG environment, and I do not like the idea of losing healing on AD and Theocrat heroes – mainly for lore, but also gameplay, reasons.
I think sorceror, dreadnought and rogue heroes should not get healing aura, for the same reasons as other stated, mainly their spells, the sorceror spell (can´t remember the name), the dreadnought guarded by flames ability, and the rouges quick dash. Perhaps rogues are the weakest point here, and one could consider compensating them somehow, not that I have the idea for that one.
So a whole lot of nothing in those words, I was asked for my input, I hope you can use in either way.
By the way, my orc victory in the PBEM tournament shouldn´t count as that one was won in turn 1.January 18, 2016 at 21:40 in reply to: PBEM player searched to play a Game of Thrones – Westeros + Essos map #239629
Hi Hiliadan. I’d like to be in on the next game in the realms of Westeros and Essos, hopefully there’s room for me. Cheers.October 31, 2015 at 20:10 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #236293
Cheers Leon. Thanks for helping those people out who need it the most (at least some of those).
Group #4 has ended their game (not that long ago).
Gabthegab got the winners prize and I came out second – even though it was just a matter of who, Galendil Evorlas, the tigran archdruid chose to seed his wrath upon first of the last 2 standing being “host” and I.
How is group #3 faring?
Cheers.October 3, 2015 at 19:43 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #233541
Group 4 is running at the start of turn 30. So far two players have been eliminated, leaving 4 players, struggling for domination. The turn timer is 1 day with roughly 2-3 turns going on per week.
I am as well but on holiday from the 13th to the 20th of October.
on a more related note, we still have 2 spots free for a training match, so join up and enjoy a good training round in a PBEM game.
Anyone, lords or underlords appreciated, to teach me a thing and maybe (even though not that likely) learn from me regarding the art of AOW3 PBEM are warmly welcome to join in a 3vs3 team PBEM. Check this thread out for more information and maybe add “Overlorddarkslash” on Steam in order to progress getting this event started.
I´m currently on my own in the second team. You are of course also welcome to add me on Steam, where I go by the name “Euzekiel”.
I´d like to be in a second wave pratice match with ze same settings as the one mentioned above.
For speeding up movement: Have you tried right clicking after ordering your unit(s) to move? This speeds up movement on the strategic map as well as on the combat fields.

Hi Host (and the other fokes of group 4).
I´ve made a public steam group for communications within the group “AOW3 PBEM Group 4”. I know you´re decidedly anti-steam, but please see if you also can write something in there. I have copied your message (above) and posted it in there. So far gabthegab and Oscaros have joined in there leaving you rrrookie and Leon Feargus to also check it out…
Here´s the link.

Group 4 has also commenced with the following players:
I hope no one feels tramped upon by this line-up. It´s been hard to communicate in the forum thread the last days due to the occasional forum malfunctions.
Btw. on battlefield 5 players are registered:
I´m not sure of which ID Iveron has in the game, whether he might be Leon Feargus or gabthegab? If not, I´m of course sorry. If you feel like we should restart, we could do that. Currently I´m the only one who has taken his/her turn.
Good game to all of you / Eskild (Euzekiel on Steam)August 2, 2015 at 10:29 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #220243
I’ll get more players. How many do we need?
It seems like group 1 is 1 player short and group 4 2 players short, so we need 3 more players. Arminius85 and Iveron should get in ASAP, or we will do with the players you manage to find ExNihil. Thank you in advance.August 2, 2015 at 08:31 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #220215
Group 4 lacked 2 players the last time I checked.August 1, 2015 at 14:23 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #220187
Seems like Iveron decided to join group 4… This is what I get from the battefield site, remember to join in the PBEM game as well (no surprise). This is great news, now we only lack one player. Arminius85 are you out there?July 30, 2015 at 21:12 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #219944
Group 4 update. We need confirmation/registration from “teehone-noin-anekov” and “Arminius85”. The 4 other players have joined. Looking forward to starting the game.
I also put the game on the-battlefield.com:
Cheers, Eskild (DK).July 30, 2015 at 12:26 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #219859
Hi everyone – mainly group 4, though.
We need confirmation from all players in the group, I guess we already have it from four out of the 6 players:
Confirmed/active in the forums in the last 3 days:
Arminius85 (replacement of Exnihil)
“teehone-noin-anekov” and “rrrrookie”, are you still game?
I´ve set up the game now. The settings are basically as already described in the post but I will summarize in case I missed something:
Medium map including underground, continents, water slider at zero, diggable and undiggable walls at approximately 15-20%. Knight difficulty. Starting town, village; starting units, medium; starting distance, far; roads, few; roaming units, average; treasures, average; cities, few; dwellings, few; ressource, visit and treasure structures at average.
I also took some screenshots but not of the above mentioned (I can redo if it SeeR or some of the others in the game require it) which is in a little .pdf here:
The password is beer

Are you on steam Host? My ID there is Euzekiel.
Sorry for filling up the thread with small scale communications.July 28, 2015 at 12:07 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #219406
I was thinking about the same, Oscaros. In 2 days we´re starting and group 4 (which I´m in) is probably without a host, see the prior posts. The group is/was:
Exnihil (Host) – left?
Host (forum name)
I could also host. The important thing is to get the same settings as what is also played in the other rounds, and, before hosting, turning off the open beta if you have that on. I will try to add one of the other hosts as a friend on steam to see screenshots of the settings.
Maybe Arminius85 can take the leftover spot?July 26, 2015 at 10:07 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #219008
I’m in your group ExNihil, and also engaged in 4 other PBEMs with the newer version. It is however not very time consuming to switch back and forth and we only have to remember that this tourney game is the only without the beta. I’ll join the game in late afternoon CET.July 11, 2015 at 14:51 in reply to: End of SuMMeR PBEM Tournament ( 24 player maximum ) – BEER League #216187
I would really like to participate, but I’m hindered until late CET 23/7.
Cheers Eskild (SteamId: Euzekiel)
I´m also quite new to online MP games, but as I´ve always enjoyed strategy games and have played through the campaigns, I´d like to get to know other people who had the pleasure of AOW3. I think this game is great, but I´m still kind of noob´ish in the ways not knowing about all possible research pathways, best race/class choiches etc.
Anyways, I would like to join the group if not too late. I accidentially updated to version 1.3 (beta), but I can probably go back if necessary.
