It’s like getting jailed. Most civil people are terrified by the very thought of it, but if you’ve been there a few times, you hardly feel more depressed than usual.
Minus several(three?) res vs complete disable for 2 turns (Storm sister)? It does sound weaker than most, actually.
I’ve never got a ban on this forum. I’ve been here from October, and it’s freaking huge long time! Usually i get banned within first two weeks!
Not everyone is like you. A lot of people enjoy killing noobs with ease, it makes them feel cool.
Def? thought orcs are just beefier, their actual def is lower than dwarven, elvish or human ones due to lack of shield.
For infantry it’s staying power which matters the most, isn’t it? This makes Draconians a bit special due to fast healing, which means less time is being spent on recover between fights.
They can sneak in.
Sounds interesting, but anyone with beta test experience is going ruin fun for others.
I’d really prefer to have more classes. We’re no more in the medieval setting, this is full Renaissance, where big nations clash for their ambitions. Small ones could exist in form of dwellings, some are even like indie cities, aren’t they?
Overall, class seems to matter more than starting race. One can pick all six races if he pleases, but class abilities are what you’ll be focused on, via class units, spells or empire upgrades.
Considering Theocrat having “fair and angelic look”, his opposite is Rogue. Shadow magic, turning people into demons, poisoning, subterfuge, assassinations, tyranny – all this is definitely far from nice, even if you’re using it to pursue “Good” goals.
By the way, looks like there are certain dichotomies in the class selection:
Sorceror – Warlord. Old one, Martial Might vs Magical Power.
Dreadnought – Archdruid. Kinda unconventional for fantasy, Progress vs Nature.
Theocrat – Rogue. Strength in Faith and Unity vs Deception, Trickery and Guile.Elves got cannons since the very first AoW. Their troops who are expect to be in the close contact with enemy are ALL armored, which indicates quite developed industry for the medieval/renaissance era.
I promise i will make a HoMM style map which would require pushing through powerful neutral armies. May be it’ll even be popular ^
Succubus is a vampiric (has life steal) and demonic, she’s not a summoned unit however.
To be honest, i don’t understand why necromancer with living subjects shouldn’t exist. Necromancers in fantasy are the mages who are doing their research in the field of death and what comes after it. A bit grim subject, but we don’t think nuclear physicists are evil just because they invented the most powerful weapon of mass destruction, right? Quite opposite, the inventor of the hydrogen bomb (Sakharov, Russian one) was a particular exemplar of goodness.
The class itself could have an ability from Death sphere to raise a city from the ruins, which becomes an Undead city. Of course, if you’re an evil one you can just raze and raise everything…
Easiest way to get double channel seems to be rogue with access to draconian elders. (Throw their buff before your assassins use your assassin strike for maximum damage!!!). Phys/Blight/Fire on any infantry unit with poison mastery. And Succubi can throw curses just as well as orc priests, albeit they’re t3 and probably not worth it.
March 18, 2014 at 15:41 in reply to: Please Explain the irrational hate of the Manticore Rider #49980in the dawn of forums, Devs (i’m not sure was it Lennart or Tombles) mentioned that, while they’d like to make unique models for each class/race combination, it’ll be too tasking for their modelling team and won’t fit into roadmap.
Pray for update pack with brutal orc warlords, stylish elven ones and practish quadratish gut human ones.
Thank you, Tombles. May grace of your Lord be upon you for taking such a wise decision which can prevent unhealthy gamebreaking exploit.
And Tolkien Elves are heavily influenced by Irish and Finnish folklore, therefore having bare-chested raging warriors isn’t far fetched for that race.
This is… interesting. I’d prefer system from Heroes V – you can choose to autocombat vs AI, or do it manually, however turns are timed and woe to those who are in the middle of combat vs neutral creeps when the timer ticks off (to prevent exploits such as one-dryad-kills-legion-of-zombies). All combats vs live opponents are manually resolved.
But fighting vs AI is really much more important in Heroes, and doing it without casualties requires manual control
So, we can either get possibility of manual combat vs AI (useful if you can break superior AI armies with tactics/cheese), but this opens up autocombat player vs player exploit, or make sure all tactical battles against real opponents will be enjoyable, but combat vs AI will be auto…
Interesting trade-off, thanks Tombles.
Game hasn’t got out yet and we’re already forced to create blacklists of people with whom we don’t want to play. Excellent.
I’ve been crazy enough to push buttons of police officers who held me in custody. Still alive and cheerful, as you can see.
On more serious note, if this abuse (forcing auto-combat on person) [almost] did it to live, it means beta test team wasn’t concerned about balance. Anyone who have played a strategy with a tactical combat can probably agree that it’s a nightmare which has immense abuse potential and can be a fun destroyer.
Or you’ll ban me from forums, right? How scary!
Dragon Age 2 featured a shirtless elven warrior. He used an oversized two-handed sword (and some arcane punching technique) instead of an axe, but overall was quite like a berserker.
I guess, given enough time, either TS or enthusiasts could create unique models for class units of each race.
He pushes for his own personal goals. As was mentioned before, AI can play beefy straightforward classes quite well. So, he’ll pick warlord and force auto-combat on your Rogue, therefore rendering all your tactical tricks useless. I won’t even mention that if your chances are interpreted as “Most likely victory”, you’d just lose one or two units in auto. While enemy could have at least sold his life dearly. Or turn the tide via stronger spells.
Most of weaknesses here appear to be 20%. Resistances are 20%, 60% or outright immunity. Blight weakness isn’t a big deal early; Elves have naturally high resistances. Frost damage isn’t widespread. Spec spells (not sure Air or Water one), Sorceror’s apprentices deal a mixture of damage – fire, frost and shock i guess.
HE bonus also applies to shock ranged damage. Have i just mentioned apprentices with three channels of non-physical damage, right?
Some of BT made a point that one can easily keep several races in his/her empire, so you can have Dwarven infantry, Orcish Cavalry and Elven archers/support. Of course, all that takes time to develop…
Why i’m not surpirised by the fact 3b who usually plays Warlord insists that auto is not an exploit?..
Contest will end in the 23:59 (GMT) next Saturday. Winner will get his prize (and will be praised here!) on Sunday.
ban test
This means that they – the strongest T4. Because they:
1) You can not build T4 to cities. Their purely theoretically less. Avatar Player can not summon them often (and they disappear if to kill him).
2) Manna less than gold.}
3) Kubera’s grammar is absent
Being an Elf fun myself, i certainly should feel ashamed when people who call themselves that way start to argue about what *insert fantasy race here* SHOULD be, or, worse, ARE.
I’ll strike your nerves right now. Flee while you can, or, if you think, you’re brave, read below.
Install AoW2.
Select Elves or Dark Elves in any scenario.
Build Engineer Guild.
Now, you’ve got Elvish army with Cannons. Yes. They use that stuff. They used them against Empire, both Julia’s and Meandor’s followers. Cult of Storms used cannons to destroy humans. Keepers used cannons to fight cult of storm.
May be humans have a bit more reasons to rush industrial revolution, but i see no reason why certain elven faction can’t take advantage of technological development.
Speaking of short powerhouse badasses, Warlords Battlecry 3 had awesome Dwarf Berserker concept, a dwarf in a heavy suit of armor covered in spikes and blades, even his gauntlets ending in spikes, able to just throw themselves at their enemy. Cant imagine an elf doing THAT.
Have a look at Dark Eldar please.
