    My preferred solution is to limit T4 units to (3) per stack.

    No other limitations on stack size. They don’t use two slots or anything like that. Just a maximum of (3) T4 units per stack.

    I too would like to see a return of the mini map in tactical combat. I fought a city battle where an enemy settler was hiding deep in the city and I couldn’t find it for several minutes.

    Also, please consider adding a small (team colored) halo at the base of each combat unit. I know the flag is intended to replace the base halo…but some of the terrains get cluttered with dead bodies and it becomes difficult to see what is what.

    Hello all, sorry to necro my own thread…but I think one of my questions may be able to be answered now.

    Can players (who are logged on to the MP lobby) watch games that they are not participating in? Can they chat with the players, etc?

    A great tool for learning, watching epic games/tournaments, or just a way to hang out online.

    1) A Co-Op campaign

    2) Frostlings

    3) Alchemist/Merchant class (name pending). Essentially uses the power of money/trade routes (bonus move)/hired mercenaries (work like summons but non magical)/economic domination. Some sample skills -> Convert mana to gold. Improved naval speed.

    I think this is a fun and interesting idea. I would give flyers the equivalent of the ‘shadow shift’ ability.

    Doesn’t the new alignment system (based on choices made) sort of disregard races being good/evil? For example, I like the idea of do-good skeletons who can’t ‘die’ until they’ve righted their wrongs. Or a jealous halfling who betrays his village and murders the sheriff.

    That said, the race I want to see most is Frostlings.

    So to play by the OP rules:

    Good: abstain
    Neutral: Frostlings
    Evil: abstain

    Thanks for the reply BlaneckW.  I appreciate the response.  However, that is not at all what I’m asking about.

    An official server, hosted by TS, not some 3rd party forum/gaming site.

     

    Ideally it would work just like Wesnoth (they really have mastered the MP user experience).   After starting the game, there would be an option to ‘Join Official Server’ from the title screen.  One joined, players would see a list of all other players currently online.  There would also be a list of games either in progress, or waiting for players.  If a game is in progress, users can observe others player…or they could host/join a new game.

    Has there been any update/news on this front?  I don’t expect an MP campaign to be included in the default release.

    But will there be any support for syncing saves across multiple maps for the community to create such campaigns?

    Hi guys.

    I find this thread interesting.  I’ve worked as an MP developer for the game Wesnoth, so I find any SP vs MP balance threads doubly interesting.

    The first thought I had is that there is a serious lack of faith in the AoW3 dev’s ability to balance both SP and MP.   I find this extremely premature.  The idea that things can’t be balanced for both SP and MP indicates a lack of imagination, to put it nicely.  It doesn’t have to be either/or.  It can certainly be both.  The game isn’t even released and there are arguments about what will work or not work, or what is desirable to whom.  Slow down and look at the cards before you play your hand.  🙂

    As for a few other themes in this thread, I can certainly vouch (for wesnoth at least) that SP is far more popular that MP.  However, it is MP players that tend to stay active in the community for years, where as SP players come and go.  Further, I’d agree that there is an attitude that MP is for the “grown ups”.  I’m guilty of that myself, as I believe MP play is where the true exploits/failures of a game are revealed.   The game ‘should’ be balanced for MP.

    That being said, it is the SP community that tends to do the most external content development (add-ons, maps, units, scenarios, etc).  This works very well, since SP scenarios/campaigns can make use of extra units/special abilities with ease, and it never need effect MP.

    AoW2 used a neat little feature called ‘Resources’, IIRC.  In essence, unbalanced stuff can simply be loaded, played, and tested without altering the core factions.  Good fun for specific scenarios and SP play.  I suspect there will be something similar in AoW3 (at least I hope).
