well if you want to participate Lord cbower I can invite you in the roster, do you have steam? if so invite me in steam and I will invite you to the WOTL group and intro the roster.

    http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198076151132

Invite me too please Lord Darkslash, I sent a steam invite.

    10 slots! Early Xmas!

I often experience similar to the OP. I was in a PBEM game and someone won Heptatopia around turn 17. By this time, I had explored roughly 1/3 of the underground and had found another dwelling. Somewhere I am missing something!

I’m in the same game Stormwind 😀
His hero is lvl 15 at turn 29 and I’ve read posters here about reaching lvl 15 at turn 16 earliest.. wtf.
Anyways this opponent is allready grabbing seals with his armies full of T4 serpents and T3 spiders and what not. I’ll be happy if I manage to win a battle 😀

Tbh, I prefer normal settings for this game dear Overlord Darkslash.

Since this is focused on the normal games actually.
So no extra rules as in the WOTL group prefered since that requires different skills and tactics tbh. I really like those additional rules, but it’s only in the WOTL group.

Maybe a 3 vs 3 on a normal map + UG is fine as well. Since normal map + UG is rather big anyways.

p.s. Archdruid seem quite on the OP side atm? Most PBEM games are swarmed with AD’s who evolve their T1’s up quickly and run T3/4 armies very soon. Something other classes can’t seem to match that quickly.

Hey Bob5! Didn’t even notice you were on this forum as well, allthough your name did ring a bell to me 😉

Overlord darkslash, maybe we can start a 3 vs 3 (is that interesting?) Bob5, me and you in a team vs who ever signs up.
I just read spiritseeker posts and that was informative. As expected I’m too passive and indeed like he said himself seduce/charm etc. do seem a bit OP in this regard.

    So what are your thoughts?

I’m in a busy week so I can’t read/reply here very often atm.

They die fast indeed, but if you care for them they can be great. Auto-combat is devastating for them though.

On this topic, allthough it’s more surrender related I encountered something dissapointing as well.

Malchar a human Necro was going all out on seals it seems, which is nice, unless he decides to surrender after a few of his cities are captured while he was 10 turns away from winning a seal victory with 2 seals under his possesion.
Those 2 seals were held by 6 to 8 stacks of units. Mainly Bone Collectors and Death Bringers.
Hell I only found out after he surrendered when I wanted to take those seals only to encounters shitloads of stacks on it. And that was 5-6 turns after he surrendered. I mean I don’t know if I could’ve stopped him in time. I think I would’ve, but I’m not sure so tbh this AI actually had a serious shot at winning the game.

He focused his troops on the seals thus leaving his cities rather unprotected for my forces and another AI so he lost half of his cities in a short time span. Normally a reason for AI’s to surrender. Now since he focussed his troops on seals he shouldn’t have surrendered based on losing cities……

I’m sure it’s hard to program, but it might be a reason for me to play without seals as apparently it weakens the AI.

Public baths and hospitals repay themselves on the long term and it will improve your production as well!

They generate happiness and an happy city produces more of everything (hammers, gold, mana)

Actually it are buildings that aren’t top priority, but if possible I try to build them asap since it improves your economy quite a bit.

Great temples if you need a lot of mana capacity and mana.

    Great Overlord,

Nice idea so I’ll add my most feared enemy: a Dread Reaper, if nobody mentioned it before though.

Since I’m an builder I hate those creeps Invoking Death on my Champion lvl 5 King Serpent or lvl 14 Hero 😉

Woops. Well unfortunately I forgot about this competely and havent been on this forum much lately.

The problem is that Im allready running 5. PBEM games and I’m not going to leave one as that’s not done in my book. Signing up for a competition and then not competing is also not done in my book, but I have to choose niw.

The fact that this is in 1.602 while all of my other pbem games are in open beta doesnt help either.

Sorry, but I have to cancel this tournament.
Goodluck and have fun. No hating on the GoG players from me. Do whatever you want to do. 🙂

I’m up for it, but I miss so much information.

If you miss your turn then SOL.. When do I miss my turn? It’s not even mentioned. I guess it’s on a 24hour timelimit though.

Since. I don’t expect to win the initial medium map I don’t really care about the XL final map, but that’s ofc too big. Better stick to the medium map.

TBH, with the new underground I play with 8 players on a Large map and then there is still plenty of space.
So an XL map could definately use more players.

On behalf of NINJEW I have to admit that it was fairly obvious he was just joking.
So Overlord Darkslash I suggest you eat some sardines and relax 😉

Good that Wintersend is back in action. I hope I get my turn before I go to sleep tonight because I have to get up early for a bachelorparty as one of my friends is getting married. I won’t be back until sundayafternoon.
Just in case I forget to mention it on the steamforum.

It should be an option though.

I guess for multiplayer it’s a good idea to balance the start out.

I only participate in BFF so thats where I comment on.

Since I’ve returned from my holiday I havent played a single turn and that was 2 weeks ago so I have no clue how it’s going besides the first 2 turns that I played.
When I was on holiday I made sure that someone else played my turns. I cant let you guys wait 2 weeks.

Right now Wintersend has problems with his pc and that really sucks for him and for us as well regarding this game. We can only wait for him now.

8 players isnt too bad, but if you participate you should try to make time to check if its your turn to play. Up to a reasonable point ofcourse.

People get infuriated very quickly I guess.

When I was 16 these kind of things could infuriate me maybe.

I was always pro-boneyard stacks, but since the AI can’t deal with them I’ve started to dislike them.
AI gets wrecked by those Titan armies.

    Welcome 🙂

Overlord darkslash runs some good pbem games so that’s a good start.

Bloodybattlebrain is a important person in the multiplayer games of aow3. Currently running a tournament. You got their attention so that’s a good start.

Hehe I know. Took me a while before I noticed it as well.

p.s. Lennart, my earlier post wasn’t a rant. It’s just something I’d really suggest when the bug is game breaking, which it was imo.

I’m not sure, maybe it simply isn’t possible to do an quick patch.

This little, but extremely important bug for SP should’ve had quick patch or something. SP is broken with this bug, but the bug is there now for atleast 6 weeks or so?

Go open beta.. I certainly did that and ofcourse loving the game. This open beta though completely wrecked all the pbem games I was in before open beta started. It still screws most pbem games 🙂

This bug is imo to important to keep it waiting for so long.

    Just my 2 cents 🙂

Gfx are absolutely not something that gives an edge for me on any game. It’s all about gameplay for me.

    Still I like AOW3:EL a lot more then AOW:SM.

As much as it’s “only” a question of lore, I don’t mind things either – I don’t look whether things make perfect sense or anything. I just don’t think that it’s good to create without any necessity a Class all units of which are fully resistant against one damage channel as a Class trait, overriding race. It doesn’t even add up – Elves have only 80% due to their weakness – so are their dead bodies still reacting some to poison?

I mean, you are either dead and therefore immune and in that case the weaknesses simply disappear, or you mix it up – but in that case there is no reason to come up with 100% in the first place, because that tends to create less problems. We wouldn’t have this rogue/necro discussion, for example.

That’s the I want everything to make perfect sense mode.

It doesn’t make sense indeed. Still fine with it though.

I have no trouble with people who disagree with me. I only have trouble with people telling me I have no good reason for my opinion because undead are undead and everything is fine.
So saying that I have fair points, but for you they are no issues is something completely acceptable and even agreeable.

Not saying I agree with all your points, but some are true.
For some people the reason that’s ok is because undead are undead. Simple as that. Tbh I don’t want everything to make perfect sense. It’s ok if some stuff don’t make perfect sense. This the AoW world and it’s their world. If in their world undead all have 100% blight protection for example then that’s fine with me.

If it completely wrecked balance I’d probably disagree and to some degree it’s not totally balanced, but then again I don’t mind some imbalance. Actually I cheer on some imbalance, aslong as it’s not groundbreaking. It’s definately not in this matter imo.

He has fair points about ghouling, but tbh im perfectly fine with the issues JJ has with ghouling. Keep them!

Ah, ok; thanks for the clarification. So what was the map setting?

The map settings we used were the default for the tournament: medium size, underground enabled (though neither of us went underground once), random map type (it ended up being either continents or islands, I don’t have enough experience with either to say which I think it is confidently), with everything set to average except for city frequency and dwelling frequency, which were both set to few

I normally play with an average number of cities and dwellings, which does make the games go on longer. This game was still over extraordinarily quickly though.

And, of course, keep in mind that “extraordinarily quickly” still means “almost an hour and a half,” so.

Hour and a half for 22 turns.

Obviously means i need to divorce and never see my kid again to seriously consider particiating in a aow3 tournament 😉

It was a grueling monster, and here is my ‘flavorful’ report.

    Well played, Prodigal.

Nice matchreport and it gave me a good idea of a multiplayer match.

Obviously behaviour the AI can never copy. Seems you guys had a lot of fun!
I was under the impression druids weren’t very populair online, but this game was won by a druid. Nice!
