    In order to use new patch (and apparently install Golden Realm) you have to uninstall the game then download it again from GoG.com (it will be patched) then download Golden Realm and install it. *facepalm*

    Just bought it on GoG.com thanks to @tibbles.

    It’s really weird that there is literally no info on Golden Realms, you can’t find it in search, there is no link on AoW3 page, no twitter message or something. Nothing. No link here too (on Triumph website).

    I have no idea who neglects what (if there is something in it at all), but it is probably not a good idea for your customers to walk extra mile to buy your product. Just my 2 cents.

    So why didn’t you call it Chaos magic? Must have been the first choice. Wild magic sounds more like something the druids of the game would use.
    But I do like the spells and their randomness.

    It is probably inspired by D&D Wild Mage class (and wild magic in general).

    Besides that, I got this idea: I liked the way @tombles did his videos and I liked your video as well, maybe you two should make a “let’s play” MP video competing against each other for a seal of power (including all the new content) with comments from both Developer and Player perspective.

    Yes!

    Also, I’ve improved the tactical AI so it engages more cautiously in the first turn and the general consequence of this is:

    Infantry die more
    Cavalry and ranged units die a lot less

    There are also a bunch of fixes for rare cases where the AI would do stupid things (e.g. the AI sometimes didn’t realise that melee attacking a unit with first strike was a bad idea if that first strike would kill the unit before it could do any damage).

    That is reassuring!

    Any input on starting position (e.g. Infantry ending in the back) and archers/supports charging? Will it be changed?

    it is getting looked into quite a lot, so it should be much better post patch/dlc drop.

    I will keep my fingers crossed for that, it would be a shame if AI will be on the same page after patch.

    It’s funny, racial fast healing on specific hex types made perfect sense to me, especially for goblins. Guess it’s just me.

    Hey Arnout,

    I managed to figure out what was wrong and apparently everything was within in-game mechanics.

    I had a “wealthy empire” morale bonus for having over 1000 gold, so when I tried to build priest (or other units) I was down to less then 1k in gold, which in turn left me without “wealthy empire” that alone lowered my production in capital, hence 2 turn for priest.

    Not much of an issue after all. (:

    Maybe Triumph should approach it from the different direction. We know Draconians have lesser regeneration feat and it helps them to compensate for the lack of healing spells on support.

    I have 2 ideas that was on my mind for quite some time:
    1. Lesser regeneration (fast healing) feat on support units. Something like bard skill but for healing: if you have a goblin blight doctor in your stack it will give “fast healing” to everyone in this stack. I mean they ARE the doctors (you can also tie the heal bonus to a different terrain as well. For instance blight doctor’s “fast healing” will have a double effect on liked terrain (swamps, blighted hexes) and won’t work on hated terrain like volcanic.
    The same could be used for shamans and tropical/barrens terrain.
    It fits lore-wise (IMHO obviously) and will encourage people to use terrain spells more active too.
    2. Just give “fast healing” to races deprived of healing means (orcs, goblins, elves) on liked terrain only.
    Just think about the synergy with terrain spells (almost no one uses spells like “domain of sun”) if it can be tied to healing we will have some interesting options to play with.

    And seriously, shouldn’t elves feel better in the forests anyway? Or goblins in the swamps/blighted terrain (maybe even underground)?

    And again my late report about the game with @abednegojc. We both played Theocrat but eventually he was better than me. I should have used some of opportunities that I had and attacked him instead of building strong economy.

    My slightly late report about the game with Bouh.

    Sorry I was quite busy last few days and didn’t even had the time to upload video I recorded. Anyhow, this is the video:

    It was an interesting game, Archdruid against warlord.
    We started in the opposite corners of the world and it gave me a good amount of turns to train t1 serpents into t4 monstrosities. Adding one Giant, some priests and a good amount of Hunters I went to Bouh’s capital hoping for my economy not to crush in the near future from all the gold I had to pay to support it.
    It didn’t, luckily and with some opposition from Bouh’s side I captured his capital.

    Since I didn’t found his major forces and the leader I expected him soon to turn out near my throne. And so he did eventually. But I was ready and he failed to capture it.

    That is when he decided to surrender.

    My thanks to Bouh for a nice game.

    P.S.

    I already talked to @abednegojc and we are going to play tomorrow (28.08) morning our game.

    You mean, these exactly the same units, as every other race has? (with maybe some new 3D models?).

    I always wondered why the current Inn only allows to hire basic racial units and never class specific ones (There were several Inn-like sites in AoW:SM, which gave some interesting combinations).

    It would be great to see such sites in AoW3. In next patch hopefully.

    All in all, I’m ok with everything that adds more diversity (More machines? Sure, the more the better).

    You might add trebuchet’s trait, that doesn’t allow to move/shoot if it is engaged in melee. Just my 2 cents.

    It was a difficult 2 day game (we had to save and continue later on) for me and hopefully for Melciar. (tl;dr version down below)

    My Draconian warlord was just starting to get his forces together when at day 20 Melciar’s orcish hordes invaded the only city he had. Having significant problems with mana income, without even basic walls he repelled the early advance of Orc Theocrat taking heavy casualties.
    Despite that he managed to make a quick territorial advance and with little gold that he saved he built another city, close to his capital within the reach to some resources.
    As things were seemingly starting to get better another wave of Shamans, Forge Priests and Cherubs invaded his tiny kingdom. He made a tactical decision to retreat to the capital leaving the newly built outpost to Melciar’s fate recruiting militia on the way. This time Draconian Warlord was prepared slightly better, amassing some troops (berserkers, flamers and hatchlings). Though mana income was still a problem a newly built wooden wall proved to be vital in this battle.
    Over and over joined forces of orc and dwarf clerics tried to breach the wall (with the help of giant beetles) to no avail until the enemy hero was slain in one of the more riskier advances and the rest of Melciar troops retreated, only proving that good tactics and some luck can overturn even bad odds.
    Quickly counterattacking battered Draconian forces defeated the attackers and advanced to the bottleneck leading to their domain. With the only passage relatively secured, they had enough time to build truly remarkable (size-wised) army while taking a risky expedition to Dragon Dwelling in hope to acquire some Dragon volunteers to their army. The risky expedition turned successful and 2 dragons joined draconian ever-growing army.
    With huge army and 2 dragons it was only a matter of time when they showed up near the enemy’s capital.
    But Melciar wasn’t going to make it easy and in turn brought Giant to assist him.
    But now the size was on Draconians side and this time it mattered.
    After this victory the Zealous Orc’s fate was sealed.

    Marcus (Draconian Warlord) vs. Melciar (Orc Theocrat).
    Victory: Marcus

    tl;dr

    I found myself at disadvantage too often (lacking mana, scouts or any way to affect forge priest’s fire resistance) and won mostly due to the in-combat tactics (twice) and some luck. Melciar showed serious tactic skills and pity I wasn’t able to record our first 2 major battles that literally lasted for hours.

    Definitely one of the best games I had so far.

    I read the rules and I have some more questions about specific in game situation.

    Imagine that there are 2 big armies, one attacks the city (A army), the other defenses (D army). Now, the guy defending the city can’t win if he attacks, but if he defends he might have a chance or at least can seriously damage attacker.
    Then, the guy with a D army attacks the city and uses spells to kill heroes and archers then retreats, without loosing any of his units but seriously damaging A army. He then returns next, err, turn and does the same until. Then repeats again until there are no serious threat to attacker.

    Is that something would be considered exploit? Will it be punished?

    Also, should we post about our class\race preferences here?
