The game looks gorgeous so far, but now that u show us a new class I noticed one minor thing the mount for each class are very similar and i think that they could be different to make them more unique and distinct… the dread horse could be made of gear and wheels for ex.
While a steam-horse for my dreadnought would be awesome (devs please implement if you haven’t), do remember that we are not limited to one mount but will be able to change it and even raise our own from eggs.
Hmm, reading the description of the Shadow Stalker. The flavor text is the testimony of a Gib Andin. Andy Gibb? The BeeGees are a famous family of sorcerers now? 🙂
I need to finish my latest playthrough of the whole series before 3 comes out.
Keeper ending for AoW1 and then proper playthroughs of 2 and 3. I am currently in the water phase in AoW2.I don’t want to get into beta…
Doubt I’d do any real testing.
I just want to play the finished game when the devs say it is good and ready. Then I want to play it loads and have fun.
Been lurking since the AoW3 announcement. Thought about becomming really active so I’d have a chance at beta. Then realized the above 🙂* Naturally isnt the correct word …. but its close enough ^^
I think “by definition” would have been a possible alternative wording.

November 16, 2013 at 14:52 in reply to: German press tour finished, new footage and screenshots #13073when the leader casted her fireball the casting points were depleated from the global pool! so, was that on purpose? or just a bug?
That was on purpose. It seems the global pool is the leader’s pool. When she casts the lightning storm on the city, he actually tells her to save some casting points to use during the fight.
I’d like to see the Theocrat page in this site thirst, than I’ll decide is that role suitable for me or not )
Looking forward to seeing all the classes. I guess the next one the page will be updated with will be the Sorcerer.
Though I’m looking forward more to playing all the classes 🙂
I’d prefer Azracs, but should we start a holy war here?
Only if you are a Theocrat 🙂

Only problem with the video is that now I want to play the game so much more.
7. (becoming out of subject) There was much talk about adding a Necromancer class. But, what about a Druid as well?
You should really watch the game’s trailer 😉
/joke post (just in case)
So you are telling me that you will NOT be making an AOW3 nude patch? That’s it, I’m canceling my pre-order.
As to the original sentiment in this thread, OP, I do think you misunderstand the use of sexy. For example the fonts were described as “sexy”. They are of course in no way meant to affect people’s libido. They might just as well have said “cool”, “rad” or “awesome”. Or even “totally tubular”.
Hearts sound great for multi-race empires, where different races would prefer different terrain. With the heart, they all are happy with the terrain you have.
And the description for frostlings says: “… but because of their circumstances they are driven to dire actions.”
The thing is, both orcs and draconians look too human. If they both took a step towards non-humanyness, then the orc face could, on levels of inhumanity, be closer to what the draconian head is now andthe draconian be more dragony. Then it wouldn’t matter what colours the orcs wear and I wouldn’t have to check for wings to be certain what I looked at was a draconian.
Also a bit iffy on the orks but absolutely love the goblins.

A. Frostling Dire Penguin TamerProbably the one game where I am really looking forward to a boxed deluxe edition.
@ melkathi, if I understand you correctly, you are basically saying you’d like a re-skin of the U.I for different classes, so that’d be 6 total skins for the U.I? Why would that be un viable? Basically a paint job right?
Basically yeah.
I have no idea how big or small the team is and how much other work the artsy person who does the UI might have.I would agree that the new UI does give off a modern feel but I wonder how would you give off a feel of a combination of industrialization and magic?
The only example I can think of off the top of my hat is Arcanum. While I doubt anyone would accuse that game of having a pretty UI, it may be worth looking at just for comparisson.
Personally I’d prefer different UI themes based on class. A very magicy UI for wizzies and a very steampunky one for dreadnoughts. A martial one for warlords and a religious one for theocrats and so on.
edit: I am well aware that that might just not be economically viable. But a frostling can dream of spring, can’t they?
Slightly shifting the topic. As far as I am aware, there’s more to an interface than the font, important though it clearly is to people here!
So, I was wondering, in the AoW3 screenshots, the display in the bottom right, which is basically a square with circles sitting on the edges-well this seems a bit clunky and a bit ugly to me. I am referring to the gallery:
http://www.ageofwonders.com/gallery/
specifically image 1 of 37, which is the strategic map.
Image 2 is a battle map and this looks better her than in the strategic map, in my opinion.
Also, can we move the end turn button? It just seems to hang there. Now ay of putting it right in the bottom right?
I’m not really happy with the UI. It is very clean and modern. Though looking at the old AoW UI, it was not very elaborate either. I guess it is the colours and higher definition that really makes it looks off in the new version.
I just want the old AoW fonts back. There was nothing wrong with those.

Something to make the content more than just the very common flood of DLC so many games have.I don’t really get what people are complaining about this new one. have you guys never played diablo? neverwinter nights? AoW1, 2 or SM? all these games have stylized fonts, that adds up to the feeling of uniqueness and the fantasy mood, most of them fonts harder to read than this one but still very easy.
I was actually thinking of all those games while looking at the fonts. I always enjoyed the fonts in the Age of Wonders series. With Diablo (or at least 2 since that is what I played) I rmember some numbers were terrible. I think it was 5 and 6 which could easily be confused? So I hope the fonts we end up with are better than Diablo. 🙂
I find the old font a bit dull. A lot of games go with the simplistic approach these days and it can cheapen the experience. A PC game should not have an interface that looks as if it was made for tablets.
That said, I am not a fan of the new font either. Especially in the second screenshot, the white on black looks rather blurry.
So I’d vote for a slightly fantasy looking font that is as readable, clean and crisp as possible. -
