Just wondering if Triumph is aware of a music-related bug when loading up saved games? When I have been playing mission 1 and 2 of the Golden Realms campaign and load up saved games, the main music stops on the strategic/world map. Just ambient e.g. jungle sounds play. Once I enter a battle, the music starts again and continues back on the world map. Would you like a saved game to help you sort this out?

    Thx

There are all some really good ideas here on Necromancers. Does this forum (like many others) have an option to create a poll? I was thinking we could do a poll here on which one of the main ideas for Necromancers is / are the most popular, then this will help Triumph know what is the best one to develop…

    Lennart & Triumph,

Great news about the Necromancer class. It would be great if you created a lengthy campaign (say 5 scenarios) based around it, and possibly (budget & time permitting) bring back some Archon units (in a similar way to the Nagas were added in the Golden Realms).

I know that Frostlings have been much discussed, and certainly a more-Arctic series of scenarios would be great, maybe tie it in with the Necromancers with the player either being on the side of e.g. an undead / Necromancer Frostling lord (it would be great to play ‘evil’ for a scenario or two) or the player more traditionally doing a ‘good vs evil’ fighting against the undead Necromancer Frostling lord. I think they could tie in well together.

If this is the last expansion then maybe Tigrans or Azracs will not get a look-in, but hey maybe that is something for Age of Wonders…4 😉

Also, as Lennart says it all depends on how the expansion and game performs in the next few months. I used to work in game development and consultancy before my current directorship at a Google Youtube division; so I am well aware of the industry and the pressures – particularly for smaller European developers.

Personally I think the game is excellent and I have greatly enjoyed playing the Golden Realms campaign (just finishing the final campaign mission, I like to explore every nook and cranny of the map & units). Many of my colleagues know the game and we spread the word. One way to boost sales may be to approach some of the main game review sites and suggest they consider re-reviewing the game due to the Golden Realms expansion and the massive 1.4 patch changes. Worth a try, if only one or two sites do a review of it it could spread the world & boost sales.

But certainly in me – and doubtless many others on this forum – you have a solid supporter and have done the original Age of Wonders in 1999. Keep up the great work.

    I totally agree.

Triumph Studios, along with CDProjekt (makers of the fantastic ‘Witcher’ series and Good Old Games) are among my favourite developers still working. Other great studios e.g. Black Isle (makers of Fallout, Baldurs Gate & Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment – the latter being probably my favourite game ever) have unfortunately fallen by the wayside although key members of their teams are still around & designing games.

I did occasionally wonder what happened to Triumph after 2003 and Shadow Magic, as I never played the Overlord series. Well, Age of Wonders 3 shows they are still as talented as ever…and great to support a European / Dutch company 🙂

Yes I totally agree with Epaminados and Deified_Data, I definitely see the game as basically complete at base. The balances and additions are great and Triumph has a solid foundation for future DLCs. I’m currently on the second Golden Realms campaign mission and loving every minute of it. A+ to Triumph 🙂

    Hi Tombles,

I’ve noticed what appears to be a bug (I mentioned it in my previous forum post earlier about doing an all-nighter on Golden Realms) as I was playing the first mission of the campaign and loaded up a save made a couple of turns earlier. I then kept playing but noticed the music had stopped playing on the world map – there was just ambient e.g. jungle sounds as I scrolled round the map. I then went into a battle and the music started again and then continued playing as normal once I finished the battle and returned to the world map. Is this a bug? Do you want my saved game?

By the way, where are you from in England? Was just wondering as I was trying to place your accent from the (enjoyable & humorous) voiceovers you did. I’m from Bath.

    Cheers

I finished the first mission this morning, so my advice to you, Texas Goldrush, is do not worry too much about building up to get the five metropolises, due to the treachery event. I too was concerned at the beginning that this might be like the dwarven mission in the Elven court campaign, as I naturally take my empire-building slow, especially when around Turn 18 Ham Binger said one of the other Halflings already had 3 large cities! (I only had my Throne which was a city and then one more town and the Fairy settlement to the south-west) But there is no need to be worry as the focus of the game shifts in Turn 25.

Keep your settlements well defended though as roaming/raiding independents seem much stronger and more aggressive now. Also the Brew Brothers are great as a quasi-healing unit and their short-range cleaver attack is great in city defense. Pair them up with Jesters and the surprisingly tough Nightwatchmen and that is a good basic lower-tier defense.

Otherwise explore the map, Triumph has done some a great job with cunningly placed item sacks and treasure chests.

Maybe I’ll write a guide to the Golden Realms campaign missions at some point.

Enjoy a weekend of Age of Wonders heaven!

    Re Morty September 18th 2014 18.15:

I can’t see the patch on GoG. Do I need to re-download and re-install the game?

    Yes. The solution is to:

    1. Uninstall AoW3 (I copied all my saves in my Profile folder at Documents/My Games/AoW3 first)

    2. Download AoW3 installer from GoG (about 1.6GBs) & do fresh install.

    3. Download Golden Realms installer (and any additional content e.g. bonus from Deluxe edition) and install.

    4. Play until dawn! 🙂

Yes it is out at Good Old Games, see:

    http://www.gog.com/game/age_of_wonders_3_golden_realms

And they are selling it at a 20% discount so £7.19 instead of £8.99 (with c. £1.50 bonus store credit).

I paid for the full price an hour or so ago, but hey, that’s my ‘tip’ to Triumph, and isn’t even a half-pint of good English ale 🙂

Installed and ready to play. Going to be an all-nighter methinks!

Thanks for the replies, I just purchased it on Good Old Games. Really strange though that it is impossible to find at the moment through the GOG main page or search function, maybe they are updating it now.

Good price at £8.99 (11.50 Euros) but with £1.50 store-credit from GOG for any future purchases. So effectively £7.50 (9.50 Euros)

Just about to launch…thx Triumph & GOG! 🙂

This campaign is surely going to be awesome….and only 16 hours to go until the Steam release (5pm GMT).

I do hope it is going to be on GOG as well since that is where I ordered my original Deluxe copy from.

Can’t wait to slay some slippery Nagas with diminutive firework-and-chicken throwing halflings!

Thanks for the replies. So it will be 12 Euros (that’s about £9.50 so I’m guessing £9.99)although they haven’t officially stated that will be the price, and should be realised at 5pm GMT (UK).

I really hope it will be on GOG as well as Steam so I don’t have to buy it again on Steam.
