Dont worry if your russian is not fluent, as always I can provide translations. I have followed Budpostachgear for years, we are nemesis!

Budpostachgear’s ideological colors may have changed over the years. Nevertheless, his core principle has remained the same: to revile everything in the most obscene terms and drag it into the filth of the basest possible outlook. If you don’t believe me then note that if I didn’t sincerely believe that it is an ongoing scandal that Budpostachgear continues to give expression to that which is most destructive and most harmful to society, then I wouldn’t be writing this post.

I have no idea whether Budpostachgear is seriously claiming that dishonest, truculent lotharios are all inherently good, sensitive, creative, and inoffensive or if it’s simply the case that no matter what terms are used, he’s doing all he can to ensure that his kith and kin get a free pass from the establishment.

In closing: Blaming conscienceless tuchungism on bad-tempered witlings is one of Budpostachgear’s favorite themes.

My Russian is rusty, but this post seemed to say something about how to get planks removed from platforms related to Ukraine, in exchange for Rubles. And something about “Rosneft” and brokerage fees? And something about a hotel room in Russia, I don’t know. Also, a thank you shout out to Jill Stein voters. Yeah, I cant really make sense of it.

Is there an easy way to switch between 1.705 and 1.704? I’d like to be able to go back to 1.704 as most games are still being played in it.

On that topic I wish there was an easier way to swap out mods besides leaving the game! But yeah right now my PBEM’s are a mess, some have beta patch no mods, some have beta patch and mods, some have no beta and mods, some have no beta no mods! And I always guess wrong when I start up!

I have a similar issue (not with the Stormwind account)

Sometime ago I made a second Steam account and separate AoW purchase so my son could play with me. He wants to play again but the email address the account was attached to is defunct (it was my dad’s and he passed away in January).

How can I reconnect? The AoW account name was Maximu5.

    Thanks!

I cant remember ever evolving one of these guys. Not enough incentive to really work at it. By the time they get a few medals they are usually too weak to travel with my army so I stick them on a town wall somewhere.

I do enjoy evolving the spiders as a druid though. THATS an evolution!

I’m only griping about the vocal ones that are all in your face about being superior. You are cool! I have bought a few games off GoG, I have no problems with the service, though Steam is my vendor of choice, if for no other reason than the virtual lobby/friends list.

In my time here I have run across a lot of GoG users and the vocal ones mostly seem to be self important, righteous trolls, always going on about mythical problems with Steam (Which I strongly suspect they have never used since they are always wrong), and then after strutting about the superiority of GoG, have to do an about face and ask for all sorts of special favors for GoG that Steam provides automatically.

I have been using Steam for I dont know how many years, with about 120 some odd games purchased, and have never had even the slightest issue with any “DRM” nonsense. I buy a game, download, and play it. I dont even know what what imaginary problems the GoG guys imagine there to be, but it must have something to do something other than playing a game since that works just fine.

I remember one even had the gall to tell me I couldnt play without an internet connection, and when I unplugged my cable and played anyway, he mumbled something about “you dont understand the problem”. Yeah…I can play a game rain or shine, internet or no internet, so no, I dont understand the problem.

I swear its like a cult. GoG users are the Jehovah Witnesses of the gaming community.

If you’re doing at least one more patch can you PLEASE fix the problem with there being heroes in the game that are duplicates of leaders. It’s very immersion breaking when you have a leader who has a hero who is identical to them. Henna the Elder is one of them.

The problem with doing this is that it can cause crashes in games where those heroes are present, so it will break people’s save games. That’s why we never changed it in the past.

I’ve never understood the thinking behind this. Leave a game broken for all time because some people in the present might have savegames adversely affected by it? If it isn’t fixed now it never will be. Pleeeeeeease Tombles! I’ll give you my last pouch of tobacco or firstborn child if you fix it.

EDIT: Just noticed that this is the reason for another issue not being fixed. How many problems aren’t being fixed because of current savegames? In a month or two few people will care about any current savegames, but a whole load will care what remains unfixed in the game as a whole. If you’re still in doubt maybe you could ask the community to vote on it: “would you like us to fix the game at the cost of your current savegames or not?” I honestly can’t imagine many people voting based on a current savegame.

I second this…if there is an easy to fix issue, just fix it, saved games be damned!

Man, the pedantry in this thread is overwhleming. No one is forced to compete and ruin all their precious “creativity”.

There are annual new writers’ competitions etc., and no one ever called them barbaric.

Then it’s about time. Numbers don’t predict who is right or wrong.

Having an external motivator like a competition is a tried and true way to fuel creativity.

As a fanatically creative person I call this total nonsense. The more pressure, timeline and rushing you put on creativity, the worse it becomes. If you want to “fuel” creativity, this is like desperately throwing plastic and trash into a flame as”fuel” to keep it burning. You cannot successfully force-fuel creativity in any way. The resulting competitions usually satisfy the foolish masses temporarily, and satisfy weak creators who need to apply their ego, instead of truly creating their own work built to last.

Citation needed for all these claims.

I dont see that one way of having how swallow whole works is any better or worse than the other…its just different. As a programmer myself I can understand not wanting to meddle with something like that at this late date…I can already see the bug of “My leader was swallowed, then another creature, so I couldnt get leader back and lost the game on the spot!”

I think the good, playable options are probably a little wider than you are implying.

As far as raze/destroy for sorceror…well of course everyone would like to keep cities if they are able. The main point of raze/destroy is for a focus on a particular type of strategy, namely hit and run burning of opponents towns. Some race/class combinations might be better at pulling this off than others. I dont see why frostling/sorceror shouldnt be able to carry this strategy out, though. Having destroy just lets you have the option of adopting this tactic if thats what the opponent/terrain are giving you in-game.

Balance for PBEM and for SP is basically the same thing, since PBEM tactical battles are identical to SP tactical battles. Preventing PBEM exploits also prevents SP exploits.

The divide is balance between PBEM/SP and online MP, which is a near impossible balance task since they have opposite issues.

SP’ers (of whom I am one, I play all 3 modes but SP gets the lion share of my play because of time constraints) dont really have much cause for complaint, since we can now modify the game to our hearts content. Just find a mod that suits you if you dont want to do it yourself.

Maybe if triumph released a shareable LAN version then we as a community could have gotten together (all 500k of us) and each chipped in 1/100 of a penny to buy one copy and then play it free over Hamachi.

I think its doubtful at best whether a sale of one copy would have spurred them on for the Eternal Lords expansion, however. Maybe the halflings and a few balance changes.

This approach is ridiculous. I understand the issue of cracked/torrented games, but this aggressive approach to blocking a fun lan has ended my desire to play the game. 8 friends want to give this a bash and we have to pay near over 1000$ for a quick bash? Stupid.

    Math much?

I have to say you guys strike me as being very whiny and entitled.

I have several friends that play this game too..so what we should only have to buy one copy and share it?

Why should playing over a LAN make it any different? You got 8 people, each should buy his own copy. If you could get away with buying one and sharing it 8 ways, why shouldnt I? Why shouldnt everyone? What makes you so special?

My kids wanted to play minecraft together…bought 2 copies. They wanted to play starmade together…again I bought 2 copies. I didnt go around whining like a welfare queen that the world owes me free goods.

How do mods work in multi-play?

I assume if I have a mod, others need to download it also to be compatible…like a new version? (at least I hope so…!)

Do you have to “install” them , or just have them present in a directory?

I hope the answers arent too obvious since I havent read anything yet…but in a game with friends and discussing modding…

Invite me too please Lord Darkslash, I sent a steam invite.

    10 slots! Early Xmas!

I often experience similar to the OP. I was in a PBEM game and someone won Heptatopia around turn 17. By this time, I had explored roughly 1/3 of the underground and had found another dwelling. Somewhere I am missing something!

I’m in the same game Stormwind 😀
His hero is lvl 15 at turn 29 and I’ve read posters here about reaching lvl 15 at turn 16 earliest.. wtf.
Anyways this opponent is allready grabbing seals with his armies full of T4 serpents and T3 spiders and what not. I’ll be happy if I manage to win a battle 😀

Ah yes! Well I managed a pretty disastrous start also, it was set strong defenses, and in my first battle I managed to lose everything except my leader. So this hampered me a bit early on. I am just amazed I am still alive down in the basement.

Triumph is the sterling example of what a modern game design/production company should be. Actively communicates with customers, listens to feedback, and supports their game by honing their vision with that of the customers.

My favorite is the one still left alive at the end of the battle!

My second favorite…lately I have been having fun with the banshee. I like teleporting into the middle of the enemy army and wailing, especially when I can do it with more than one, and follow up with necro despair stacking and exploiting attacks. banshee is pretty survivable, and often the AI seems to ignore it and run around it trying to get at softer units in the back.

Machines I think are envisioned as being operated by people. So that should really not make it much different than a swordsman who hits someone with a sword and has the life energy conduct through the metal sword vampirically.

Of course this leaves open the question of why machines arent affected by spirit. Maybe being surrounded by a metal golem gives you more protection than a simple suit of armor that leaves areas of your body still exposed. (Kind of like why terminators can time travel because their metal body is covered by living matter, but cannot time travel while carrying a ray gun because the metal of the gun is exposed.)

Bottom line is that balance needs to come first or the game is ruined! Your job as a player is to come up with rationalizations that explain away all the little contradictions!

Yeah I know, but I really dislike that visual effect so much lol.

I hope a mod will come out <3 so much so.

Or you guys tell met to go back to aow2.. but I prefer having ONE epic strong unit. then 6 of em.. makes it feel less special or epic in a way.

I think there is a way to turn the visual off in the game? Never tried it though. Honestly dont see why it should bother anyone, think of the visual as another way to see at a glance how close to dead your unit is.
