Glad you guys still kicking!
Can’t wait to see it. Just one thing: I hope the game has a proper campaign like all your previous games.

Wonderful news guys, and good to see the (frost)lings are back! 🙂April 2, 2014 at 09:44 #62039
Do I allways go seccond when attacking? I havent started I fight with me being the first to act I think… If there are ways to start off a battle as the first to move the Option isnt well communicated.
In Age of Wonders, the defender is the first who can act, always. That’s why you never started the battle when you attacked.March 17, 2014 at 00:07 #48755
I guess Weakning Touch will inflict Exhausting Fatigue debuff. Thats all i wanted to know really, i coudlnt ask for more with NDA on hehe.
I don’t think revealing an ability would violate the NDA. So weakening touch inflict 40% blight weakness -2 res and -1 def, not exhausting fatigue. As many goblins have blight damage this is a really good ability.
Is healing totally out or just restricted?
Some priest units still have healing, just these abilities have other names, because they provide other bonuses besides healing e.g. heals the unit + bonus fire damage. Also Theocrat heroes/leaders can pick the healing skills.
How many spells there are in each magic school/sphere (like fire, air, water, destruction, creation, earth)
Less than in the previous AoW games, simply because many of them are now class spells. I would say 8-10 for each magic school.
I missed this one it seems – I believe its 7 each (with possibly an exception or two, such as the dreadnoughts ironclad making it 8).
Yes, the druid has more than 10 with the summons.
Are these units active for limited time on the strategic map (several turns) or they are normal summoned units.
These are normal summoned units without time limit.
What exactly does the trait “Armoured” do?
Adds +2 defense to the unit, but make it suspectible against armor piercing attacks. Units with armor piercing do +2 damage against armored units, so basically they negate it.
Tomipapa, are you from Hungary? Have you tried the beta?
Yes and yes 🙂
@Lennart Sas: Thanks Lennart! On a side note, I live in Hungary not Romania, but the price in Romania are also high as far as i know, so yeah worth checking those
i hope Karagh is still in the game i love that unit in AoW1.
I loved that unit too, sadly it is not in the game
I hope it is just disinterest not greed. It would take them quite some time and extra money to make fair region prices. So yeah, imo the reasons are disinterest and laziness.
barking at the wrong tree wont change anything really
the developers here don’t control the prices so venting here is not really going to change.
Sigh, for the last time: Publishers decide the prices. AoW 3 is a self-published game, so in this case Triumph Studios is the developer and the publisher in one person. So Sordak is barking exactly at the right tree.
Will the barking change anything? No, but lets write down the truth.
@low_k: The evil steam was an obvious irony(most people think steam is the one who doesn’t allow fair pricing when in reality publishers are the ones)
About the retails: i left the word should sorry for that. So physical copies should be more expensive than digitals simply because it has additional costs(box, dvd, shipping ect). And people know about these obvious additional costs, so they won’t be angry if publishers would say: physical copies will be a little more expensive because it has additional costs to make. So still thinking the “we can’t make lower digital prices because retailers don’t allow it” is a lie and publishers just want to devolve the responsibility. But yeah, you are right we won’t agree on this, you think publishers have no or minimal part in this, while i think it is mainly their fault.
@ Tomipapa, while I fully understand your feelings on this, I think your stance hurts TS more than it does GoG or whoever…
the anger of the complainers is directed at the wrong people.
If you guys really belive that gog/steam ect. or the retail stores decide the price of a game, then you are naive. Publishers decide it… always AoW 3 is self published game so yeah, TS has the main role in this.
The retail store excuse is a big lie. Retail versions have additional costs(cost of the disc, box and shipment). So it is obviously more expensive than the digital version, and no customer or retailer would ever complain about a little cheaper digital version. Still, digital versions are usually more expensive, you can guess for the reasons, but no, not because of the evil retailers…
If the publishers hand would be as tied as they want you to belive then there wouldn’t be any fair pricing in the digital stores. Lets see some game prices on the pure evil steam:
Metro Last Light: 24.99 pounds
29.99 euro = 24.67 pounds
39.99$ =23.97 pounds
Arma II complete collection: 24.99 pounds
29.99 euro = 24.67 pounds
39.99$ =23.97 pounds
DayZ: 19.99 pounds
29.99$ = 17.97 pounds
23.99 euro = 19.73 pounds
What a pleasent surprise! So, this evil steam let some publisher to do fair pricing on steam, but they don’t let Triumph to do the same? LOL. So guys it is all about the willingness of the publisher. Yes, it has a little additional cost on the publisher side, but if he care about the customers he will do it.
“Where the willingness is great, the difficulties cannot be great”
I won’t push this further, i just can’t stand this “poor publisher, evil retailers/digital distributors” nonsense
Nobody said AoW 3 is overpriced, the complain was about unfair price differences. It seems you can’t understand this Low_K, but it’s your problem not mine.
@rohirrimelf: Lol it’s not some kind of childish i didn’t get what i want. It is about regional pricing is f*cking unfair, and i hate it. And just because i can’t change this alone i should not just accept it but support with my money? I’m not a naive person so i know nothing will change(at least in the near future), but at least i won’t support this.
Well I doubt they’re going to budge on the principle…
Are you going to order the game from Russia?
Of course not, that was half anger half joke. I want to pay more than that. I will wait few days, who knows maybe they lower the eu price. If not then, i expect the retail price of the game in my country around 45-50$. I just don’t like physical copies anymore, it was ages ago when i last bought one. Or i will use american proxy and buy the game from one of the digital stores for 45$.
People are overreacting, regional pricing is a fact of life; Deal with it!
Do you know why people choosed gog over steam? DRM free and fair pricing. I knew from the beginning that steam will do region pricing, that’s why i waited for gog preorder. For 45$ i would preorder immediately. But when i saw they would charge 62$ for the deluxe edition which is 17$ more then i said no! It is not about i couldn’t afford the +17$, as i said it is about the principles. And you know, this sheep mentality is the reason why we have region pricing and so many shitty games.
When in a country you earn just 500$ it make sense to sell the stuff there 6x cheeper then in countrys where the average salary is 3000$
Europe contains many countries, in Germany the avarage salary might 3000$, but in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary ect. it is around 500$, still people living there must pay the same price as a german. My monthly salary is not even 500$. But as i said i could pay this 45 euro price it wouldn’t ruin my life, but i won’t do this. I don’t pay 15$ more than an american.
Isn’t this affected by the tax rate as well?
I know here in the UK our taxes are a bit high, so our price is more…(for everything)
34.99 pounds is lower than 44.99 euro so even people in the UK will get it cheaper than rest of Europe.
Anyway, did Triumph themselves decide over this regional pricing method for their game? Sounds more like a distributor thing to me, not sure though…
What’s upsetting me is that people are blaming Triumph for forcing GoG to do this, which makes no sense whatsoever O.o
It is a well known misbelief that people think gog or steam decide the price of a game: No, publisers decide the prices. As far as i know there is no evil pusblisher behind Triumph Studios so they a responsible for this.
As a beta tester from the beginning, this is the only thing i really don’t like. So I’m with balanced and Stupendous.
Why shouldnt a goblin be able to be devout leader? Or why couldnt an Elf be an evil warlord who takes what he or she pleases with force?
I would be happy with 1 or 2 exception like you said an evil elf warlord, or a devout goblin, but how could be a city with 20k goblins pure good? 20000 little pure good goblin, really? If i remember correctly, the goblins still have their old racial description: “Goblins are filthy sadistic creatues, which delight in destruction and chaos…” Filthy, sadistic pure good goblins.
I would be more forgiving with this, if the city alignments had some connection with the units they produce e.g. pure good goblin city produce pure good goblins, evil goblin city produce evil goblins. But this is not the case, racial units have no alignment value at all, both the good and evil city produce the same unaligned units. So a matching alignment only helps you in diplomacy, once you get the city it doesn’t really matter who you are and what city is that.
Because racial units have no alignment, you can put a dwarf a goblin an orc a high elf a human and a draconian unit into one army without morale penalty.
About breaking the fantasy rules: If this would be a first episode of the game, nobody would argue. But AoW had 3 games and a quite interesting lore where race and alignment always mattered. Throwing this out just to break old cliches and create something new is unwise imo.
But as i said, the new alignment & diplomacy system is the only thing i don’t like, everything else is well made and pretty good. But i hope modders will jump to this when the game comes out 😀
Besides deserting, units with low morale have a chance for doing less damageFebruary 17, 2014 at 20:23 #32697
Can a dreadnought leader attract a archdruid hero or any opposing combination.
Yes. To be honest it is much more common that the first offered hero doesn’t match with your leader class.February 7, 2014 at 15:47 #29297
Now, with always hit, can they still attack you while hiding behind an obstacle? If yes, is it always hit? Or will the game not allow you to attack a ‘hidden’ unit at all?
Yes, they can attack you, and it is always hit. Instead of affecting the hit chance, range and other modifiers(e.g. obstacles) are affecting the damage. And we don’t talk about 10-20 percent damage penalty here, but about 60-90%.February 6, 2014 at 19:16 #29119February 4, 2014 at 19:12 #28619
