    18. Fix current luck mechanic. Luck and miss-chance are terrible gamemechanic choises. Try something like reduced dmg if a unit gets lucky or a fixed dmg reduction. Sorcerer stun has the same issue. Maybe make it like “War Cry”, a one time use ability so the support unit can stun for 100% but only once in combat.

    I wouldn’t expect anything different from a skill called lucky. There is already luck involved from any inflict status. The problem is that luck doesn’t care of the attacker in fact it is luck for a reason!
    I think they could introduce an offensive version of luck for modding purpose.
    HP = total health
    Defense = armor
    Luck = old defense
    New Luck = old attack

    Fixed some bugs. One was nasty: Necromancer T4 couldn’t walk!

    I upgraded the Racial Governance: it didn’t make much sense! For example the Giant Momos gained +1 shock ranged and no range penalty but it is a melee only support! Now gains +10 hp and an extra medal.
    I removed the regrowth from Follettus, not it has just Fast Metabolism that gives only 10% of HP, it is still very strong because you will heal in no time on strategic map.
    Also I placed all lore string.

    NOTE:
    -Pikeman has first strike and polearm as default, not pike square!
    -Acid Spit (6 fire 5 blight) instead of Fire Spit!
    -Siege equipment = athletics reversed
    -Devour Corpse heals only 20
    -Camel = fearsome but works only against mounted units
    -Frost weapons = -3 physical +4 frost
    -Greedy = +50% upkeep
    -Incitate = similar to invigorate but works once for battle
    -Soldier of Fortune = +35% critical chance

    Here is the new version.
    I fixed racial units name and I also completed the Palmanovus. Now Scavengers have -1 physical melee and ranged.

    NOTE:
    -Pikeman has first strike and polearm as default, not pike square!
    -Acid Spit (6 fire 5 blight) instead of Fire Spit!
    -Siege equipment = athletics reversed
    -Devour Corpse heal only 20
    -Camel = fearsome but works only against mounted units
    -Frost weapons = -3 physical +4 frost
    -Greedy = +50% upkeep

    Would love for my mod where Bullies are supposed to be the spam unit faction with just a couple of flyer and stealth units, right now the trash units are just individually weak and cheap but not as weak are in the lore because you can’t produce many of them.
    But I fear that is 100% impossible even by the developers. Someone said that could be possible to create a button for produce more units (for example a X2 button), but I don’t think the tools are enough and anyway that wouldn’t solve the already queued unit waste of production.

    Each Warbreed has a different weapon and specialization…didn’t test in game but they are very different, for example Bullies are quite frail so their warbreed has shield and life stealing but very poor attack while Scavengers has ranged attack (their racial tier 3 is already uberstrong in absorbing physical damage)

    Good idea 2 tier 3 based on city position.

    About racial skills I think that is implied that lizardmen are vulnerable to elemental damage: they fear frost of course, but they fear fire as well (salamander lore) and they could fear shock too. Frost weakness for everyone could be good but I would add shock weakness for frog riders and fire weakness for some units, may be longer than add as a racial skill but is more correct (fire weakness to salamander too would be bad).

    Yes, also it could be hard to balance because some factions don’t use cavalry at all. Viscidlings is more lizard than draconian and have an acid theme rather than a fire theme.
    Scavengers both devour corpse and luck, lack of cavalry, low damage but very skilled at combat.
    Bullies should be about numbers and ambushes. They also use Momos to overcome their blight weakness: Momos suck against physical but can absorb a lot of elemental damage.
    Predatorum is sport themed with low willpower.
    Palmanovus is quite similar to Tigran.
    Follettus is a little zombie theme. Stink and regrowth.
    Negrus Svizzerum is a lot less frost oriented than Frostlings.
    Sbassus is mercenary themed and lack cavalry.
    Taglium Macignis is both camel and underground theme.

    Except damage type all can be done with modding I guess, no need of AOW 4.

    A 4 could have

    1)fast battle mode…not just for playing but also for testing units!
    2)No more wasted production. Not sure if with modding is possible to build multiple units to avoid it.
    3)Could try some interrupt mechanic and more complex tactics, something in Jagged Alliance style. Could be awesome but it is very risky.
    4)Some mixed cities in the map. That would be funny: you get units from 2+ races but they cost a lot more. If you keep them you will stay on good path and get more options, if you genocide you will produce more and faster but it is an evil path and you get less option. Or also you can get a smaller population of a different race, for example a goblin city that can produce greatswords in addition of marauders because there is an orc enclave.

    Melenis was the favourite wife of Meandor that is Julia’s brother. She was resurrected by Inioch that is Julia’s father (if you notice some characters have “house of inioch” in the name) and after that she doesn’t seve anymore the elves but the undead.
    Werlac doesn’t want to destroy the world, the Wizard Kings may destroy it but it is not intended: they just want to fight among themselves for the ultimate power, of course it would be the end of the current political system. The necromancers instead want to turn the world in an undead world.

    I would like a “research competition”. A button for multiple units production, a reworked luck that reintroduce hit chance, a reworked flying etc etc etc. All these researchs would enlarge the way the game can be modded.

    In the summon set you find a subset with lines.
    For example in Halfling Raise Militia Unit Set
    CORE_HALFLING_IRREGULAR_UNIT_SET
    you can change it in
    CORE_HALFLING_PIKEMAN_UNIT_SET
    or you can put both and you have 50% of a farmer and 50% of an adventurer

    Names are easy, anyway you will find the coreblabla that have an object (not line) and it is the exact unit that will be summoned.

    Ah just that name change? Lucky you….I have a full conversion so I have to hunt every name and decription.

    Anyway in this case you have to write ONE description and prepare in the xml X names for X races you have (6 or 9…depends how many dlc you have) then change the rpk for EVERY racial apprentice. If your mages are very different (for example Frostling is a snowman with 100% fire weakness, Halfling is bloated with gas and human mage is mounted) you can prepare more descriptions (right now if you notice they use the same) if you want, remember that even if you use shared names or descriptions you have to link the xml to each racial unit rpk, there isn’t an automatic mode to do that.

    To be honest, while I’ve had a lot of fun creating new units and tinkering with the mechanics I quickly found that the “vanilla” game is really hard to alter without making it less fun in the process.

    Try to give hatchling animation to elf initiate.

    I already knew this, the problem is that some options are avaiable for units only.

    For example dislike temperate is already there, but selectable for units only (in group section or as an individual unit skill) and doesn’t appear in city properties list.
    The same is for like blighted and like subterranean (city can like cavern wall and dislike subterranean climate, but the already existing skill “like subterranean” isn’t avaiable).

    I managed to “dehorse” a cavalry. The trick is to NOT change the cavalry figure…it is just too difficult.
    In my mod Halflings don’t have cavalry, they use a rubber lady that bounce over the walls as fast troop. I used the nymph model….the problem is that under unit section there isn’t nymph model…you have to create a new figure in the halflins section (copy and paste a figure on FOOT, not a cavalry), then put the nymph skin, then go in the halfling cavalry UNIT (not figure) and link the unit with the new figure you have just created.

    Also I am not sure about it, but if I apply a negative bonus to some race bonus like knowledge bonus it doesn’t get counted, I have to use a multiplier.

    I changed high elves irregulars with halfling martyr skin and draconian hatchling animation, but it crash when I enter in battle with them. Not sure what is wrong, incompatible animation shouldn’t be the issue since I already put a wrong animation in other units with just a weird effect and no game crash.

    Also when I change the skin should I change only figure in the figure section or even the figure in the unit section? I know that unit is essential for the formation if I want to change the number, the problem is that I have less choices of skin if I change the unit section while I can use every skin in the figure section.
    Anyway if I replace brew brother with nightwatch skin it works even if I do the replacement only in the figure section. But I still get weird result: the right hand can only have a cup and can’t reach any weapon (the weapon seems floating), changing the animation doesn’t help.

    Right now I made farmer weaker (a lot less of attack, throw chicken more chance to hinder but very low damage and with cooldown) usable without barracks and war hall, doubled the dimension of the nightwatch buckler, gave a crossbow to human archer, changed description of halflings with localized xml (a little annoying because there are many links to that: tome of wonders under concept, when you choose your race and also the race skill in unit menu), removed racial modifiers of Halfling that have devour corpse, gave to halfling support acid darts and cause fear but removed nourishing meal (you don’t need you devour corpse), also gave armored and removed 1 of defense.

    Not sure what broken that. Maybe because I touched defense and attack of a unit: I can still see skill, hitpoints and movement points.

    I actually don’t mind Warbreeds as neutral lair “monsters”; besides, the less I mod, the less possibility I break things, given how clumsy I am! 😉

    I already broken Tome of Wonders: it doesn’t show resistance, attack and defense!

    That’s all you should need to do, sounds like you’ve made a mistake somewhere… Giving them the same template resolver as a Dwarf XBowman or a Human Militia should be all that’s needed.

    The name of civic guard template is OneHandedSlashStab_Human…so the template is about all unit animations and not just a single action unlike the name suggest?
