The Day After Update and Plans

With Eternal Lords and V1.5 off to a smooth and flying start (we’re very happy with the initial reactions and chart positions!) , we wanted to share with you our plans for the next couple of updates.

  • Short Term (1-7 days)  We’re fixing any show stopping bugs,  issues like a reported launcher incompatibility problem on certain Mac OSX installs.
  • Mid Term (1-2 weeks) Fix any obvious balance issues and the more obscure bugs
  • Long Term (4-8 weeks) Post launch balance update. After an influx of new users and more mileage on the expansion, we’re analyzing how the all  the V1.5 and Eternal Lords gameflow plays out in both single and multiplayer, and will make changes accordingly.

Please let us know your feedback. V1.5 is not the end!

For now, the team is off for a short celebratory terrace drink on the first warm spring day in the lovely city of Delft, the Netherworld.

    As you mention launcher incompatibility: It is not actually a big issue, but I noticed that launcher does not open centered anymore but to the left side of my screen. (Windows 7)

    I also have Windows 7 (64bit) and my launcher still launches in the center, as it always did.

    For feedback: I would like something similar to “pledge of protection” for independent cities. If the AI pledged to protect a city, making them your vassal and/or capturing them could cause big diplomatic penalties. This would draw the AI into your actions with independents.

    Right now I feel it is too easy to super charge your economy in single player via vassalage. If doing it on a large scale had a chance to cause multiple AI’s to declare war on me, it would make it more interesting/strategic.

    Otherwise…. this is a REALLY good expansion. You’ve done a wonderful job.

    Enjoy your well earned mini-vacation! I really enjoyed AOW3 as is, both SP and MP, however, I downloaded beta 1.5 as soon as I could. Vassalage was my favourite change, I really like the change in pacing.

    I was intrigued by Necro, thought Frostlings were interesting, and was drooling to play the Tigrans. I am on turn 70 of a 1vs1 MP with a good friend and we are still going strong (although that Rogue hero cosmic event is making me nervous). I am honestly blown away by how much better the experience is. EL+ 1.5 is greater than the sum of it’s parts thus transcending my expectations by far.

    You guys really did an amazing job. Cosmic Happenings make me feel like I’m playing a different game each time, Necromancers are very unique, and all of the additions just fleshed out AoW3 in amazing ways. I truly hope it’s not the end for you guys and I got a few friends to purchase the game as well.

    What? It’s been like almost a FULL DAY since EL release and still NO NEWS of the third expansion, and instead of doing something about it you all go to celebrate? damn lazy devs…

    Joking of course, have you all a very well deserved break 😉

    PS: Just so you know, there is an AoW3 bundle at GOG to go with the release of EL, so I ended up purchasing EL for me and another full bundle for the wife. I hope my humble contribution helps to keep the AoW ball rolling to infinity and beyond.

    I am liking the new race governance so much that i think there is more to be done about this new feature. Some of the perks let me focus on a particular route i don`t want to take with that particular race. While the elven race race governance fits so good with my strategy that it does not force me to go on another direction. I would like to see some perks changed and maybe some day a third perk could be added to make more strategies viable. So i could create more strategies with races i would not pick because of “blend” perks.

    For example. Ad a third perk for elves that focus on animal companions as an arch druid. Or give elven infantry another upgrade that fits their race. Or give orks the option to make more effective use of ranged units and let them like blight to fit with the destruction specialisation.

    Started a necro play through and at turn 130-something its a great over all experience. My only real feed back would be that the AI seems to be acting a little odd with the new specialisations.

    The Shadowborn bots seem to acting according to their alignment spec. But, I also included a Keeper of Peace and Grey Guard Master and they’re both acting off. The KoP seems to be doing his darndest to stay in neutral instead of shifting for good alignment, while the GG went Pure Evil and funnier still in a fit of sheer silliness constantly produces dedicated to neutral units who keep deserting.

    I love the tigran loading screen.

    And I would love to see a loading screen for every other AoW3-race, too!
    May I remind: You already made loading screens for each of the classes, yet not the races.

    Just thinking loudly.

    My first feedback, having just finished the campaign, is that I am amazed how seamlessly the new content fits into the base game. It slots in as if it had been there from the beginning.

    I love it, I love it A LOT.

    I do have some visual feedback – I think Tigran Crusaders should get a White-and-Gold (Theocrat colours, basically) version of the Sun Guard shield instead of the standard Crusader shield, and Tigran Mounted Archers should ride some form of Big Cat, because that would make them a decent shoe-in for Cat Masters of old.

    Any idea when GoG will get the Mac version? I would rather play on my Mac than through a VM as it really impacts performance!

    I would like to see improvements with the A.I force composition.It seems very random with lets say 2 heroes and 2 spy drones in an army.The A.I should try to field a strong balanced army with combined arms.

    AI improvments are always great, although everyone knows that their hard to develop. Still, I would like to see this!

    Tried the NPCs again a new game. Master Grey Guard, minor creation human theocrat same as before, by turn ~10 was already solidly evil. Expander Master KoP dwarf dread seemed to be constantly balancing for neutral.

    I know the AI doesn’t have problems playing ‘good’ had plenty of games before where the bots reliably ended up good or pure good when speced with creation. So I’m thinking it might just be a behaviour check that’s off on the specs.

    And about the feedback. I noticed that practically none of my reported translation mistakes were corrected. Do you plan to fix them? Is there a specific patch planned for Polish version of the game? Plus there’s always the new ones 😛
